As firefighters, we expect to drop everything and leave our homes at the sound of a tone to help people during some of the worst moments of their lives. Today’s structure fire hit differently for our local department and for all of our mutual aid companies. Responding to one of your own team’s worst nightmares brings an even greater pressure to perform flawlessly.

Our firefighting family is an incredibly close-knit brother/sister hood, and today that bond was on full display.

I would like to sincerely thank all of our mutual aid departments and agencies for their support today. I apologize if I miss anyone, but thank you to Paris, Woodstock, Greenwood, Norway, Sumner, PACE, the Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Forest Service, who also responded to assist with a woods fire that was started by the incident.

The teamwork shown by everyone on scene was outstanding. Because of that teamwork, the fire was handled safely and the home was saved.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the employers who allow their volunteer firefighters to leave work and respond to emergencies in our community. Nearly every firefighter on scene today has a full-time job elsewhere, and without the support and understanding of those employers, departments like ours could not do what we do.

Thank you again to everyone who responded, supported, and helped in any way today.

Thank you to the members of the Woodstock Fire Department and the West Paris Fire Department for last nights monthly training event! 🚒🔥

Last night’s training focused on hydrant operations along with in-service training on our new Engine 5. Great work by everyone involved and awesome participation from all members throughout the evening.

The black flies definitely made sure their presence was known all night long, we tried to offer some turn out gear to them and a job application but the flies didn’t want to offer any kind of help! 😅🪰

A big thank you as well to Woodstock for helping load our LDH supply line. We appreciate the teamwork and continued partnership between departments as we train together to better serve our communities! 💪🚨

🚒 Exciting News from the West Paris Fire Department! 🚒

Our brand new FOUTS Four Mini Pumper has officially arrived! We are incredibly excited to add this new apparatus to our fleet as we continue working to better serve and protect our community.

The truck will remain out of service for another few weeks while our members complete training and become fully familiar with the new equipment and operations. Safety and preparedness are always our top priorities.

We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the Town of West Paris for your continued support of our dedicated volunteer firefighters. Your support helps us provide the best possible service and keep our community safe every day.

We can’t wait to get this new truck on the road and in service! 🚒🔥

We would like to give a huge thank you to CMHT Inc. (Central Maine Hose Testing) for completing our annual hose and ladder testing!

Their team tested approximately 8,000 feet of hose and 6 ladders, and did an outstanding job repacking the truck and taking great care of all our equipment throughout the process.

CMHT continues to provide professional, efficient service with an incredibly quick turnaround on records and inspections. We highly recommend Central Maine Hose Testing for any department’s annual hose and ladder inspections!
