The WPVFD is an all-volunteer, nonprofit emergency services organization, founded in 1947, providing fire protection and all-hazard emergency response to West Pawlet, VT and surrounding communities. Fire Department responds 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to fires and other emergencies in West Pawlet. We also assist the fire departments of other surrounding communities through a system of mutual a

id, enhancing preparedness throughout the area. Our department is one of nine fire departments in Vermont dispatched by the Washington County Department of Public Safety. We are an all-volunteer outfit, comprised entirely of citizens who donate their time without compensation. is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, financed in part by taxes allocated by the town, in part by fundraising events, and in part by the generous donations of individuals and businesses in our area.

This morning at 11:42, WPVFD was dispatched on AMA with Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Rt. 133 just north of the Village of Pawlet.
This was the second MVA in town this morning.
All WPVFD units were returned to service at 11:54. YTD= 77

This morning at 09:16, WPVFD was dispatched on AMA with Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department for a report of a property damage motor vehicle accident on Robinson Hill Rd. in Pawlet. The first arriving PFD officer determined there was no need for the fire department and all units were returned to service at 09:24. YTD= 76

Tonight was another “Training Tuesday” for WPVFD as our members joined personnel from Arlington, Dorset, Pawlet, Manchester and Rupert Fire Departments at a controlled burn & water supply drill.
Members practiced hose line techniques, ladder company operations and a tanker shuttle at J.K. Adams in Dorset.

This afternoon at 14:47, WPVFD and Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department on AMA were dispatched to a residential smoke alarm activation at a home on New Street in the Village of West Pawlet.
First arriving units found no signs of smoke or fire and further investigation determained the cause to be a malfunctioning alarm. All units were returned to service at 15:14. YTD= 75

This morning at 09:12, WPVFD was dispatched on AMA with Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department for a report of a tree on wires and burning on Pawlet/Rupert Mtn. Rd. in the Pawlet district. First arriving units found the incident was off the road and posed no immediate hazard. The incident was turned over to GMP and all WPVFD units returned to service at 09:42.

This afternoon at 14:25, WPVFD was dispatched on a mutual aid assignment to the Manchester Fire Department VT district to assist with extrication of an injured hiker from the Lye Brook Falls area.
While en route WPVFD units were diverted to the Manchester Public Safety Facility to establish a landing zone for Life Net Air Medical and to cover the Manchester Fire District.
Once the patient was extricated and transferred to the helicopter, WPVFD units were released from MFD.
All units returned to service at 19:05. YTD= 73
