💙 It’s been a busy couple of weeks for our Escambia County EMS CORE Program as we continue to work together with our community partners to combat the opioid crisis and provide comprehensive care to individuals battling opioid addiction.

Recent events we were honored to participate in included:
- CORE Nurse Wendy Shine gave a presentation about CORE at Offentsive’s Street Forum hosted by Rep. Michelle Salzman on August 20.
- CORE Nurse Elizabeth Jones spoke at the Pace Center for Girls “The Facts. Your Future.” event on August 28.
- CORE was represented at the fourth annual Overdose Awareness Day on August 31.
- CORE Program Supervisor Joey Kerman spoke on a panel at the Santa Rosa County Opioud Summit on September 1.

We appreciate the opportunity to engage with our community about this important topic as we continue to work together to bring hope to those who are ready to make a change in their life.

A Heat Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow. Stay safe in the heat this weekend!

☎️When answering a 911 call, we have to be prepared for anything, always remaining calm in the chaos.

We're proud to recognize Escambia County Emergency Communications Dispatcher Jerald Ard, who exemplified those traits on a recent 911 call that resulted in the successful delivery of a healthy baby! Jerald demonstrated outstanding composure, professionalism, and compassion, giving calm and clear instructions over the phone to help guide the caller through the birth of her child until EMS could arrive to provide medical care.

Jerald’s quick thinking and guidance highlight the critical role our 911 telecommunicators play every day. While they may not be visible on scene, they are often the first first responders, providing reassurance during moments of crisis when people need it most.

❤️ A prepared community is a safer community, which is why we're proud to partner with Visit Pensacola and Ascension Sacred Heart for the "Summer Safe Pensacola Series," helping equip hospitality workers in our community with critical, life-saving skills when it matters most.

We had a great time at the second "Summer Safe Pensacola" event yesterday with District 4 Commissioner Ashlee Hofberger! Our own EMT Clifton Wheeler and Paramedic Esmerelda Law led a hands-only CPR session, with instruction on a simple and effective technique that can save lives during cardiac emergencies, and Elizabeth Jones from CORE demonstrated how to use Narcan in case of an emergency. Medstar-Lifeguard AirCare, Escambia Search and Rescue, and staff from Ascension Sacred Heart taught sessions on "Stop the Bleed" and water safety skills so hospitality employees can act with confidence in emergency situations.

Thank you to Visit Pensacola, Ascension Sacred Heart, and all our first responders for a great afternoon, and thank you to our participants for helping build the foundation for a more resilient community!

🚑We had a great time participating in the Pensacola Police Department National Night Out Touch-a-Truck event this week at Washington High School, which was a great opportunity to engage with our community!

🩺Events like this allow us to give children an up-close look inside our ambulances, helping them feel more comfortable if they ever need emergency medical care. We also reinforced the importance of calling 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency so that Escambia County EMS can be there to help.

💙Thank you to PPD for the opportunity to participate in this great community event, and thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with EMS!

💙We had a great time yesterday evening engaging with the community during the L.O.S.T. Community Open House with District 4 Commissioner Ashlee Hofberger at the Ferry Pass Community Center!

🚑Thank you to everyone who braved the heat and checked out our ambulance and other Public Safety equipment purchased by the Local Option Sales Tax. L.O.S.T. generates revenue for capital projects and infrastructure needs for Escambia County, including public safety, fire trucks and ambulances, fire stations, park improvements, road resurfacing, sidewalks, drainage and stormwater enhancements, and more.
