Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices we use every day — phones, laptops, tools, e-bikes, v**e devices, and more — but they can be extremely dangerous if thrown in the trash.

When damaged, crushed, or exposed to heat, these batteries can spark and cause fires or even explosions. Unfortunately, many garbage truck and landfill fires are started by improperly discarded lithium batteries. These fires put sanitation workers, first responders, and our community at serious risk.

🔋 Never throw lithium or “e-” batteries in the regular trash or recycling bin.
✔️ Take them to a designated battery recycling drop-off location.
✔️ Keep batteries in a cool, dry place until disposal.
✔️ If a battery is damaged or swollen, handle with care and contact your local waste authority for guidance.

Help us prevent unnecessary fires and keep everyone safe. When in doubt — recycle it properly. ♻️🔥
