Tonight in training we worked with small tools. We used a k-12 to cut some rebar. We used chainsaws to cut some wood. Everyone had a great time.

Attention area Fire Departments- Howell Rural is hosting some classes here in Howell County at our Fire Station #1. To sign up for these classes please go through your Acadis Accounts. Please call the Missouri Division of Fire Safety if you don't have an Acadis account or have your Fire Chief call. September 17, 2026 will be Through the Lock class held from 6PM to 10 PM. September 18, 2026 will be Firefighter Friendly Thermal Imaging from 6PM to 10 PM. Food will be provided both nights so please call us to let us know you will be attending or if you have any questions at 417-257-1270. The last class we will be hosting this year will be November 21, 2026 from 8 AM to 12 PM. You will need to use your Acadis accounts to sign up for this class also. We hope to see you all there.

Despite the heat, we trained on forcible entry and how to enter a fire in a structure. It was a good training. Thank you to West Plains Fire for letting us use the training tower last night. It was a good learning experience for all.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Board Member Leon York. Leon was a very big supporter of our Department and did anything he could to make our department a better place for the employees and community. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Keaka, as well as his children, grandchildren and other relatives. We will miss Leon but we will always remember what he did to help our community.

EMS Week – Save A Life Day

Today, we recognize the power of everyday people stepping up in an emergency. On Save A Life Day, we are highlighting the importance of CPR and Stop the Bleed training — two skills that can make the difference between life and death before first responders arrive.

At Air Evac Lifeteam AEL 001, we know emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere. Immediate action by a bystander can dramatically improve outcomes for patients experiencing cardiac arrest or severe bleeding.

CPR Saves Lives
High-quality CPR can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival during cardiac arrest.

Stop the Bleed Saves Lives
Knowing how to control severe bleeding with pressure, packing, or a tourniquet can keep someone alive until EMS arrives.

This EMS Week, we encourage everyone to take the time to learn these lifesaving skills. You never know when you may be called upon to help a family member, friend, coworker, or stranger in need.
