As we prepare to celebrate the retirement of longtime employee and Town Treasurer Susan Lathan at the end of this year, the Town of West Point is beginning the search for our next Finance Director/Treasurer.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join our team and serve the West Point community in a key leadership role. The Finance Director/Treasurer will oversee the Town’s financial operations and help ensure West Point continues to be a strong, well-managed community for years to come.

We are grateful for Susan’s many years of dedicated service to the Town of West Point and look forward to recognizing her contributions as her retirement approaches. In the meantime, beginning the recruitment process now will help ensure a thoughtful and seamless transition.

During our August 25, 2026, Town Council meeting, Mayor Jack Lawson and members of Town Council presented former Town Manager John B. Edwards, Jr. with a resolution honoring his many years of service, leadership, accomplishments, and commitment to public service.

Mr. Edwards’ steady leadership and genuine care for West Point and its citizens have helped shape our Town’s growth, strengthen its resilience, and enhance the quality of life for those who call West Point home. We are grateful for his lasting contributions and the legacy of service he leaves behind, and we wish him every happiness in his well-earned retirement.
