? Reception Day hasn't always looked the way it does today.

Long before today's streamlined process, new cadets often arrived over the course of weeks—or even months—and had to pass entrance examinations before joining the Corps.

Watch to learn how R-Day evolved into one of West Point's most enduring traditions.

Welcome to West Point, Class of 2030.

From saying goodbye to their families to reporting to the cadet in the red sash, today marked the beginning of a 47-month journey to become leaders of character in the United States Army.

The moment it became official.

Yesterday evening, the Class of 2030 stood together on The Plain and took the Oath of Allegiance, formally beginning their journey as cadets at the U.S. Military Academy.

More than a ceremony, the oath reflects a commitment to duty, leadership and service to the nation.

Reception Day marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Class of 2030.

Throughout the morning, new cadets took their first steps into the West Point experience—saying goodbye to family, receiving their first uniforms, and beginning to learn the standards and discipline that define life at the Academy.

A successful Reception Day begins long before the first cadet candidate arrives.

Yesterday, members of the West Point community volunteered to serve as cadet candidates during the annual R-Day rehearsal, helping cadet leadership and staff refine every step before the Class of 2030 arrives on Monday.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to help prepare for one of West Point's most significant traditions.

Monday, the journey begins for the Class of 2030.

recently hosted three cadets from the U.S. Military Academy for an immersive three-week experience focused on space warfare and sustained space maneuver. Highlights of their visit include: briefings with command leaders, including Lt. Gen. Richard Zellmann, USSPACECOM deputy commander; tours of local space units across Colorado Springs; and physical fitness training with the USSPACECOM Commandant Sgt. Maj. Chad Stackpole. This August, these cadets will return to West Point to lead a capstone research team, guided by an Army FA40 adviser, to help solve critical space operations questions for the command.

Today, the Patrouille de France conducted a flyover of West Point as part of their national goodwill tour across the United States in commemoration of our Nation’s 250th birthday.

Featuring eight Dassault Alpha Jets and one Airbus A400M, the flyover honored more than two centuries of friendship between France and the United States, a bond forged during the American Revolution and strengthened through generations of military cooperation, shared sacrifice and enduring partnership.

Coordinated through the French military attaché to the U.S. Military Academy, the flyover was part of the team's planned transit down the Hudson River to New York City, where commemorative flights recognize the historic ties between the two nations, including France’s gift of the Statue of Liberty to the American people.

The visit underscored the longstanding relationship between the U.S. and French armed forces and military academies and their shared commitment to developing future military leaders.
