It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the tragic loss of former Clay County Deputy and current Lee County Deputy, Rick Haggard.

Rick served Clay County with honor and later continued his calling in Lee County, dedicating his life to protecting others. He was more than a badge he was a brother in blue, a public servant, and a man who chose a life of service knowing the risks that came with it.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Deputy Haggard’s family, friends, and our brothers and sisters at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office during this incredibly difficult time. No words can ease this kind of loss, but please know you do not grieve alone. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office stands with you.

Rest easy, Deputy Haggard. Your watch may have ended, but your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

No matter what the weather has in store for us, everyone please use caution if you have to be on the roads.

Alright, we have no clue what the weather will do, but we do know some folks can't drive to save their lives even when it's sunny and 85 degrees, so let's try not to attempt any ice road trucking stunts. Just because Walmart got a fresh banana shipment doesn't mean you need to rush out and grab them. Stay safe

Merry Christmas from your Sheriff Eddie Scott, Chief Deputy Steven “Woody” Woodruff, and the entire staff of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
We wish you and your family a safe, joyful, and blessed Christmas season. Thank you for your continued support and trust as we serve this community; it is an honor we are proud to carry every day. May your holidays be filled with peace, warmth (well, maybe a beach towel), and time spent with those who matter most. 🎄🚔 Remember to watch out for those deer; they are jumping in front of cars instead of pulling Tank's, I mean, Santa's sleigh!
