Today, the Best-Luther Fire Department took on Nassau Fire in a Week 5 matchup at the East Greenbush Town Park. BLFD won by a score of 26-10. We thank NFD for a fun and very eventful game! We also celebrated Firefighter Brianna’s 19th birthday!

We extended our deepest sympathies to the Menands Fire Department after the tragic loss of their firehouse and equipment last evening.

This afternoon, at 11:23am, the Best-Luther Fire Department was dispatched to a reported Chimney Fire. Box 0310 was activated by Rensselaer County 911, which activates the Bruen Rescue Squad and the West Sand Lake Fire Department. Upon arrival, Best-Luther Car 1 requested West Sand Lake to standby in quarters, due to our apparatus and personnel being commited to this call. An extensive search was conducted and a small fire was located within the flue of the chimney. Quick actions were taken by the residents, resulting in a prompt extinguishment was conducted. Once the incident was controlled, West Sand Lake Fire was returned to service from standby. All Best-Luther units were returned to service at 12:31pm.

Today, members participated in a Work Detail at our firehouse for the upcoming Memorial Day Parades. A total of 15 members assisted in cleaning all pieces of apparatus and even did some station spring cleaning!

At approximately 12:44pm today, the Best-Luther Fire Department was dispatched to respond with Tanker 3. T-3 provided support on scene as well as water relay support. More pictures to follow. Thank you to our members for your dedication and service!
