The grant window for Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds runs through Dec. 2. Youth organizations and government agencies providing youth sports programming are invited to apply.

Through a Legacy Fund grant, the JCC Buffalo Aquatics program opened up access to swimming to City of Buffalo youth.

“Because of this funding, we have been able to offer youth swim lessons, completely free of charge, to underserved children in the City of Buffalo. We have also been able to hire additional coaches for our competitive swim club program, the JCC Storm, allowing more children to participate than ever before. We are grateful to the Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo, Project Play WNY, and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation for their support and are glad to be a partner in the mission to expand opportunities for youth sports in our community.”

Our October school wellness professional development trainings were a huge hit! In early October we hosted the first session of a 3-part play workshop. Participants learned about the importance of play for children's mental and physical health and got the opportunity to examine how play can impact student behavior. Later last month we hosted a math and movement workshop to give k-5 educators techniques for incorporating movement into daily math lessons.
