It is with profound sadness that the officers and members of the East Seneca Volunteer Fire Company announce the passing of our brother in service, Jay Mazurkiewicz.

Jay was a dedicated life member of East Seneca and an integral part of the emergency services community. Throughout his many years of service, he gave his time, knowledge, and experience to help others become better firefighters, EMTs, and leaders.

As an instructor, Jay understood that the lessons we learn in the fire service are more than information taught in a classroom. They prepare us to protect one another and serve our community when it matters most. He was passionate about making sure those lessons were remembered and carried forward by future generations.

Anyone who had the privilege of learning from or serving alongside Jay will remember the words he lived by:

“Press On.”

To Jay, those words meant continuing forward through adversity, never giving up, and always striving to learn, improve, and serve others. It was more than a motto. It was the example he set throughout his life.

Jay’s knowledge, dedication, friendship, and commitment to the fire service will never be forgotten. His lessons will continue to guide us, and his influence will remain present every time one of his students answers the call.

Our deepest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers are with Jay’s family, friends, fellow first responders, and everyone whose life he touched.

Rest easy, Brother. Your final alarm has sounded, but your lessons and legacy will live on through all of us. We have the watch from here.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of life member Paul Hintermeier.

Paul joined Reserve Hose after starting his firefighting journey with Highland Hose in the Town of Evans. He joined us in September of 1975 and served for many years as Lieutenant and Captain.

He will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Paul

Reserve was saddened to hear about the passing of Life Member Raymond “Ray” Jones. Joining in 1965, Ray was a 61 year member of Reserve Hose. Ray was also dedicated to teaching as he was both a State and Erie County Fire Instructor. Rest in Peace Ray.

Reserve Engine 1 is currently standing by at Big Tree Volunteer Fire Company while Hamburg crews are working a commercial structure fire in Eden.

This morning, Reserve Hose took part in a town wide engine operations drill. Reserve members had the opportunity to become familiar with equipment our mutual aid partners carry on their engines, as well as feed and discharge water in a full water relay operation. Great job by all companies
