The hours of the town pool are changing starting August 12. The hours will be 12:30 PM - 6:00 PM daily effective August 12 - September 1, 2023. Noting the hours are subject to change due to lifeguard availability and weather.

From July 31 though early September, the consulting firm GHD will be conducting a Habitat Connectivity and Improvement Opportunity Assessment within the Smoke Creek watershed for the NY Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).

Surveyors may need to traverse many properties along the creek and in the floodplain. The surveyors will only be collecting data about environmental conditions and will not be placing any flags, posts, etc. Their vehicles will be clearly marked and contact information for field personnel will be displayed on the windshield. All affected properties should receive notification from the DEC via mail.

The information contained in the recent West Seneca Soccer Club Facebook post and email to families canceling the “End of Year Celebration” contains false/misleading information. Please make no mistake – the Club was absolutely allowed and supported by the Town to hold this “End of Year Celebration” event again this year. The event was approved, the fireworks were approved, and town employees were ready to support the event. The only element that was not approved was the food trucks, which were not allowed due to a contractual arrangement with the new concession stand operator. WSSC was notified of this on July 11, when the town learned that this event was being planned.

The Town consistently asked the WSSC President and Treasurer to work with the existing vendor who is contracted to provide food and drink at the Soccer Park concessions stand. Again, the event was still 100% permitted to continue this Friday (7-28-2023), just without the food trucks. We are also very sad and disappointed that the WSSC President and Treasurer canceled this event when the Town repeatedly asked them to not schedule food trucks.

New signs have been put up next to the park shelters/pavilions that are available for reservation. Park shelters at Veterans Park, West Seneca Soccer Complex, Firemans Park, and the Kiwanis Pavilion can be reserved. All other Park Shelters are first come, first serve. If you have any questions, please call the number on the sign.

Great News! Erie County has been awarded $4.75 million to totally replace the Mill Road bridge over Caz Creek. Construction is tentatively expected to begin in 2025 or so.

So many new friends and happy memories were made today at the opening of the NEW inclusive playground located in Veterans Park (A.K.A. Centennial Park)! As stated by one of our Recreation Commission members, Kellie Kostek, “We didn’t just build a playground, we built community!” The fun at Town Center will continue tomorrow at 10:00am with the re-opening of the Town Pool. We hope to see you there!

The excitement continues this week at Town Hall Campus, with the opening of the new and inclusive Veterans Park Playground this Thursday (6/29) and the re-opening of the Town Pool this Friday (6/30)!

A lot of hard work and community involvement has gone into building the new playground, which will include accessible features for more children & families to enjoy. This playground will officially open to the public on Thursday (6/29) at 10:30am. Attached are some "construction photos" taken throughout the process. Stop by to see the final results! Before the playground opens, town officials & partners will share remarks at 10:00am.

The Town welcomes the community to the Town Pool the next day, on Friday (6/30) at 10:00am. Pool Hours this summer: 10:00-7:00pm Monday-Friday, 1:00-5:00pm Saturday & Sunday.

Veterans Park Splash Pad will close Friday 6/25/23 night and be closed for the weekend. It will reopen Sunday 6/25/23 at noon and close at 8:00 PM. Normal hours will then resume open daily 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM. www.westsenecarecreation.com

Join us this Thursday at the corner of Main Street & Union Road from 4-7pm for Week Two of the West Seneca Farmers Market! The market has about 40 vendors this year with NEW and returning local businesses.

This week we are highlighting Human Farms & Greenhouse, Lain Candle Co., Chateau Buffalo, and Buffalo Bros Burgers. Human Farms currently has planted flowers and hanging baskets and will later bring in produce as the season unfolds. Lain Candle Co. brings homemade candles, sweatshirts and more! Chateau Buffalo has a wide selection of wines to try this summer. Stay for dinner and stop by Buffalo Bros Burgers for their signature smash burgers!
