Last night, East Senior had their Baccalaureate celebration at the Ebenezer United Church of Christ, hosted by Rev. Gary Gossel.
Our friends in the West Seneca Community of Churches invites our seniors into their church home each year in order to laud and recognize them as important community members.
Luke Osmanski was emcee, and Claire Lamoreaux performed a solo on the cello.
The theme of the evening was mosaics.
Thank you to Rev. Gossel, an East Class of '86 graduate, for taking interest in our students and hosting this wonderful event.
A special thank our our amazing music department lead by Phil Farugia and Charlene Brooks. The Chamber Chorus and Select Orchestra made the night unforgettable! Also thank you for our special guests: Mrs. Kara Welgoss and Mr. Ryan Colbert for their wonderful speeches for our students. Also, thanks to Allison Hise. Abby Wesoloski, and Mrs. Schaal for presenting their essays on their "Mosaics" for their journey through school.
Lastly, a thank you to Mrs. Giumpa and Mrs. Page for their hard work this year as Senior class advisors.
The song performed here is "Because I Knew You"
from the musical "Wicked".
Lyrics as follows:
I'm limited
Just look at me
I'm limited
And just look at you
You can do all I couldn't do, Glinda
So now it's up to you
For both of us
Now it's up to you
I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better? But Because I knew you
I have been changed for good
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me

Every year, our friends in the Community of West Seneca Churches invites our seniors into their church home for a farewell baccalaureate concert.
We thank them for their interest in our students and for hosting this wonderful event. Here is West Senior last night at 14 Holy Helpers, under the direction of Keith Easing, and accompanied by Anthony Kalinowski. Teacher Jeanne Skotniki was the guest speaker.
Try not to cry as you hear the students sing Time for Movin On.
Tonight, East students will be at Ebenezer CC at 6:00.
Lyrics:
We've travelled a long, long time together
And there have been alot of good things on the way,
But now, it's almost time for leavin'
And the things I feel inside are very hard to say.
But it's time for moving on, my friend; hold back all the tears and sorrow,
It finally is time, to go our separate ways.
And I want to wish you well, my friend,
As we search for new tomorrows.
Go, as you must, but please,
Don't forget the yesterdays.
Remember the dreams we dreamed together,
All of the joys we shared at getting to today.
Now just one time, before you leave,
Reach out, and take my hand,
And help me walk away.
For it's time for moving on, my friend; hold back all the tears and sorrow,
It finally is time, to go our separate ways.
And I want to wish you well, my friend,
As we search for new tomorrows.
Go, as you must, but please... Don't forget the yesterdays.
East Middle School's music teacher, Mary Palmer, and her students welcome incoming Superintendent Dr. Lisa Krueger with song and a little something extra. Watch until the end!
FREAKY FRIDAY this coming weekend. Feb 29-March 1
Freaky Friday is a musical with music by Tom Kitt, lyrics by Brian Yorkey, and a book by Bridget Carpenter. It is based on the 1972 novel of the same name by Mary Rodgers and its 1976, 1995, and 2003 film adaptations. In the story, when an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again before the mom's wedding.

Luke the Builder
Luke, a student of Mrs. Anderson’s 4th grade at West Elementary, has had some very productive snow days, designing and building igloos - with stairs! Luke, armed with a snow shovel and his mother’s slotted spoon, will design to meet his clients’ needs. He could be a fit for our Academy of Business and Finance, or BOCES Building and Construction Trades, but mom is hoping for the Academy of Engineering. Either way, he’s off to a good start!
Winchester Potters had the best Big Crunch celebration today with big apples from NYS farms! #FarmOn #HowBigIsYourBite #BigAppleCrunch #farmonbite
East Middle School got in on the apple chunching too! Students were given a choice between Cortland, Gala, Jonamac, and Empire. Who will win?! #BigAppleCrunch #CrunchChallenge #FarmOn
Today is the @FarmOn Big Apple Crunch Challenge! Winchester Potters students had a choice of apple crisp, apple sauce, or fresh apples. The applesauce seems to be winning the vote. It could have something to do with having wiggly teeth in this particular age group! #BigAppleCrunch #CrunchChallenge #FarmOn
