Wi******er Fire Company extends our heartfelt condolences to Tyler Schenck’s family, friends, and loved ones, as well as his entire Seneca Hose Fire Company,
Our thoughts are with everyone who knew, worked alongside, and served with Tyler during this incredibly difficult time.
The West Seneca Fire Companies are a family, and when one of us hurt, we all hurt.

It is with great sadness that we notify you of the loss of one of our members, Tyler Schenck, who passed away in an accident last evening.

Tyler was not only a valued and respected member of our organization, but also a member of the Erie County Department of Health, EMS Division; the Erie County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Services, Hazardous Materials Response Team; and Hamburg EMS, as well as a former member of Reserve Fire Company.

At approximately 2200 hours on August 22, 2026, emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident in the Town of Elma. Members of the Blossom Vol. Fire Company, Spring Brook Fire District #1, Erie County EMS, and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office responded and worked together to manage the incident.

Tyler was described by those who knew and worked alongside him as lovable, lighthearted, and a passionate EMS provider who genuinely cared about everyone he met. During his time serving in the fire and EMS communities, Tyler made a meaningful impact on his coworkers, fellow first responders, and the people he served. His loss will be deeply felt throughout our public safety, fire, and EMS communities. Our deepest condolences go out to the Schenck family, Tyler’s friends, and his fellow members during this incredibly difficult time.

A huge thank you to Vigilant Fire Company, WS for an awesome joint drill at 2060 Auto Parts!

Members had the opportunity to work together on vehicle extrication and vehicle fire operations, getting some great hands-on training and experience.

It was an amazing time training alongside everyone! Thank you to all the members who came out and participated, and thank you again to Vigilant Fire Company and 2060 Auto Parts for making the drill possible.

This afternoon, Wi******er Fire Company Squad 3 and Rescue 7 responded mutual aid to the Reserve Fire District for a reported fire.

Responding crews encountered a large garage fully involved in fire, with multiple vehicles and exposures involved. Multiple hazards at the scene contributed to the heavy fire and smoke conditions.

Crews from across the West Seneca Fire Districts worked together to bring the fire under control.

A special thank you to Doyle Fire District for providing standby coverage for Wi******er while our crews operated at the scene.

Wi******er’s 3rd Annual season long football pool books are now available. Books are $100 for the entire season which includes all 17 regular season games and the Super Bowl. That’s ONLY $5.56 PER GAME!!! Payouts per game are listed on the book in the picture below. Available squares for the first round of books are also posted below. Once the first round is sold out, we will run a 2nd round if the demand is there so stay tuned….

It is with heavy hearts that we join the fire service community in mourning the loss of Firefighter Jay Mazurkiewicz.

To his family, friends, and brothers and sisters at East Seneca Fire Company, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. May you find strength in the countless lives Jay touched and comfort in the memories you shared.

His watch may have ended, but his legacy of service, sacrifice, and brotherhood will continue to inspire those who answer the call after him.

As Jay often reminded others:

“Press On.”

🚨 Town-Wide Swift Water Rescue Training 🚨🌊

This weekend, our West Seneca Swift Water Rescue Team will be conducting one of our town-wide training drills.

Training like this is essential because when the call comes, there isn’t time to learn—we have to be ready.

One of the pieces of equipment you’ll see out on the water is our RDC (Rapid Deployment Craft)—the yellow rescue boats. During training, crews use pike poles to check water depth, locate sudden drop-offs, and safely navigate areas that may hide dangerous hazards beneath the surface. These drills also allow rescuers to practice victim rescue techniques in realistic water conditions.

Every drill helps improve teamwork, communication, and the skills needed to safely rescue someone when every second counts.

If you see us training, know that it’s all part of preparing to better serve and protect our community.

Thank you to everyone who dedicates their time to making our town safer. Stay safe, and if you’re near our training area, please give our crews plenty of room to work.
