As you probably already know, power outages are widespread in town and many intersections are currently without functioning traffic signals...and cars are driving straight through them without stopping. We really recommend you don't go out and travel at all right now as there are downed trees and power lines creating hazardous driving conditions, but if you really must go out and grab that bag of Cheetohs, you are required to treat intersections without power as a four-way-stop. Follow us for more traffic safety tips.

We have received word from the North Pole that the big man himself will be visiting our fire district on Saturday, December 18th. He will be leaving the firehall around 11a and starting the tour of the district to visit all the good little (and big) boys and girls in our Kaisertown neighborhood. PLEASE be assured that he WILL visit EVERY street in OUR district so there is no need to message us with special requests, just listen for the trucks coming down the street and he will be there soon thereafter

This Saturday, December 4th, West Middle's Capstone Class (a group of students involved in community service) will be running a drive-up/contactless Food Drive in the West Middle School Bus Loop from 9am to 12pm. All non-perishable donations will be donated to FeedMore WNY.

The kids are striving to make their event a huge success, so please consider helping out by driving through and dropping off non-perishables such as cereals, canned goods, pasta, peanut butter, rice, sauce, mac-and-cheese, etc. For attention we've included this photo in front of West Middle of Officer Foster, who according to a box of mac-and-cheese is actually family of four.

We’re not crying, you are.

Today’s random act of kindness.

While in downtown Buffalo today doing interviews for new firefighters, Assistant Chief Kluck and the other Assistant Chiefs went to lunch at the Washington Square. Assistant Chief Kluck noticed a homeless woman sitting at the bar and asked the waitress if the woman was a regular visitor to the restaurant. The waitress said she was a regular visitor to the restaurant and they normally give her a glass of water and a bag of chips. Without hesitation, Assistant Chief Kluck gave the waitress money and told her to let the woman order whatever she wanted for lunch. When the woman realized the generosity of Assistant Chief Kluck, she became emotional. The two shared a touching moment together before Assistant Chief Kluck left the restaurant.

Great Job Assistant Chief Kluck. You made a difference in someone’s life today. We are extremely proud of you!

The majority of young people that abuse prescription drugs get them from family or friends- and the home medicine cabinet.

There will be a DEA sponsored drug takeback at the West Seneca Senior Center, 4620 Seneca St, on Saturday October 23rd from 10am to 2pm.

If you don't properly dispose of unused prescriptions in your home, they might find a new one.

Seneca Hose Engine 1 and Chief 9 responded mutual aid to Wi******er on Friday evening for the report of smoke in the apartment on Harlem Road. While enroute, units were updated that there was a disabled individual who could not get out of the apartment. Union 9 and a Wi******er Firefighter located the elderly individual in the apartment that was moderately charged with smoke. Seneca Hose Engine 1’s crew then carried the patient down stairs to awaiting EMS crews. Crews found a small fire on a mattress that caused the smoke conditions. Crews removed the mattress and ventilated the building. With the negative spotlights in the media these days, we wanted to recognize the outstanding work our crews and our partners do on a daily basis.
Members from multiple West Seneca Fire Companies came together to support a fundraiser for the Special Olympics. The West Seneca Fire team WON the events best costume. We couldn’t have done it without the inspiration our buddies at the precinct give us on a daily basis. For the second time today, Seneca Hose was alerted to the I-90 for a motor vehicle accident. Units were dispatched Eastbound for a Jack-knifed Tractor Trailer leaking diesel fuel over the Buffalo Creek this afternoon around 3pm. Seneca Hose Chief 9 arrived and reported approximately 75 gallons of diesel actively leaking through storm drains into the Buffalo Creek. Seneca Hose Rescue 5, Engine 1 and Wi******er Squad 3 (blocker) responded and plugged the leaking saddle tank and used speedy dry and absorbent pads to contain the spill. Seneca Hose 9 requested the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation due to the amount of diesel that leaked into the water. The scene was cleared by Rusiniak's Service Inc. and turned over to the New York State Police. Photo credit Nicole Rak.

Thank you to all our brothers on the team that deployed last evening. A special thank you to our Union Fire members 1st. Asst. Chief Miller, Capt. P. Engine 1, Engine 2, and Chief 9-1 responded mutual aid to Reserve on the I-90 East just before Ridge Rd for the Tractor Trailer fire last night. Engine 1 arrived on scene first and found the cab fully involved with fire already into the trailer. E1’s crew stretched an 1 3/4” attack line and began fire suppression. Crews from Reserve, Wi******er, and Newton Abbott worked to extinguish the fire. Photo credits: West Seneca Police Department
Last evening Seneca Hose hosted a Mutual Aid drill at the Fire Safety Division - Erie County NY Amherst Training Facility. Firefighters from Seneca Hose, Wi******er Fire Company, and Union Fire Company, trained on Thermal Imagers, water cans, Hoseline advancement and ground ladders under live fire conditions. As always, we are looking for folks to join our team. Email [email protected] for more info!
great chicken dinner really good!
Seneca Hose Chief 9, 9-1, Rescue 5 and Wi******er Squad 3 responded this afternoon to a reported MVA on the Route 90 eastbound in the area of Mineral Springs Rd. Chief 9 arrived to find no one trapped in any vehicles, and only minor injuries to those involved. Please when passing a scene such as this, pay attention to the road. We witnessed numerous passerby’s trying to take videos and photos while driving by. (You know who you are) This is not only dangerous for you and those traveling around you, but us as we operate in the roadway. Contrary to popular belief, we don’t enjoy playing frogger, dodging oncoming vehicles.
I would like to thank everyone that responded to the call on the morning of December 4th on Harlem Road. It was my father Robert Zieziula that you worked on and stayed with for an hour in the freezing snow and cold. Although my father did not make it, I wanted to thank each one of you. Especially Nicholas Paradowski. That young man responded with no fear or question as to what he needed to do. I will forever be grateful for all of the efforts you all put in in trying to save our father. A special thank you to the kind person that through all of the chaos took that extra effort to fold the hat my Dad was wearing and place it aside with his glasses in it. That showed that you saw him as someone's husband, father and grandfather. I hope to never have to have a call made out to you again - but after seeing the caring, strength and efforts you all have - I am proud to be a part of the Wi******er Fire Company community. May God bless you all and keep you safe.
