This morning East Seneca hosted the monthly townwide drill, the topic was off road rescue, utilizing our departments UTVs, the crews familiarized themselves with the wooded trail systems along with various off road rescue situations, the West Seneca Police Department joined our training with some drone operations to assist us in our search efforts, great training that’s unfortunately put to use multiple times a year.

Overnight Engine 1 was requested by South Wales Fire Company to stand by at there station while they responded mutual aid to Colden for the residential structure fire, while in route our engine was upgraded to the scene, the crew assisted with chasing hot spots on the second floor, great work by all companies on scene!

🚨 INCIDENT UPDATE: 2-ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE 🚨
Yesterday afternoon, the East Seneca Fire Company was dispatched to a working structure fire at the Mayer Brothers facility.
Both Assistant Chiefs arrived on scene to find fire showing from an HVAC unit. Engine 1 arrived first due and immediately initiated deck gun operations, with Engine 2 arriving shortly after to establish a dedicated water supply. Seneca Hose Truck 6 was deployed to flow water directly into the top of the unit, successfully knocking down remaining pockets of fire.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our mutual aid partners for the strong daytime response and team effort to get the scene under control quickly! 🚒💨🔥

We want to give a huge thank you to Stone Art Memorial, our grounds crew had a difficult time moving a dedication stone after some maintenance was completed at the station, not only did they immediately head over to help up-right the stone, they also painted and polished the stone with no hesitation! It is with profound sadness that the officers and members of the East Seneca Volunteer Fire Company announce the passing of our brother in service, Jay Mazurkiewicz.

Jay was a dedicated life member of East Seneca and an integral part of the emergency services community. Throughout his many years of service, he gave his time, knowledge, and experience to help others become better firefighters, EMTs, and leaders.

As an instructor, Jay understood that the lessons we learn in the fire service are more than information taught in a classroom. They prepare us to protect one another and serve our community when it matters most. He was passionate about making sure those lessons were remembered and carried forward by future generations.

Anyone who had the privilege of learning from or serving alongside Jay will remember the words he lived by:

“Press On.”

To Jay, those words meant continuing forward through adversity, never giving up, and always striving to learn, improve, and serve others. It was more than a motto. It was the example he set throughout his life.

Jay’s knowledge, dedication, friendship, and commitment to the fire service will never be forgotten. His lessons will continue to guide us, and his influence will remain present every time one of his students answers the call.

Our deepest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers are with Jay’s family, friends, fellow first responders, and everyone whose life he touched.

Rest easy, Brother. Your final alarm has sounded, but your lessons and legacy will live on through all of us. We have the watch from here.

Today, the East Seneca Fire Company family came together alongside our community to honor a true staple of our department and our hearts: Life Member and Brother, Jay Mazurkiewicz.
To say Jay made an impact would be an understatement. He dedicated his life to serving others—not only as a deeply respected brother in red but as an educator who shaped, inspired, and guided countless students throughout his career. His legacy lives on in the lives of everyone he taught and every firefighter he stood beside.
We want to extend our deepest, most sincere thank you to every single fire department that joined the procession today. Seeing our brother officers and apparatus from across the region standing with us meant the world. Thank you for showing up for Jay, for us, and for his family.
