The West Seneca Lions Honor Two Outstanding Lions!

Lion PDG Dan Dunn was recognized by the West Seneca Lions as a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (1 Diamond) for his continued service to his club and his community. Lion Dan has led many West Seneca Lions initiatives; through Lion Dan’s most recent efforts, our club has collected hundreds of dollars and several tons of food to benefit the West Seneca Food Pantry! Congratulations Lion Dan!

The West Seneca Lions Ride for a Roswell!

The West Seneca Lions took part in the "Ride for a Roswell" (on August 23rd) to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Over the past several years the club's members have logged hundreds of miles and have raised thousands of dollars for cancer research. This year, our ride involved 20 riders and raised over $6,200 to help Roswell find a cure!

The West Seneca Lions continue to serve our community. On May 30th, several Lions gathered to perform our semiannual Adopt A Highway clean up. Garbage was picked up along a 2 mile stretch of Clinton Street from Union Road to Harlem Road. We were fortunate that we had a nice day to be out, and we filled quite a few large orange trash bags, Lions Serve!

The West Seneca Lions are sad to announce that today we laid to rest a great member and friend in Bill Falkner (94 yrs). He was a Lion for 49 years. His service to our Town will not be forgotten. Today we stood with his fellow Firemen from Vigilant Fire Company where he was also a life member. He was a pillar of the community and will be missed by many.

Saturday's clothing drive and shred it was chaired by Lion Mike Smith and manned by over 24 lions plus one soon to be Lion and a student. The event was a roaring success, collecting a trailer load of clothes for various organizations in Western New York that help needy men, women, and children in our community, and shredded over 2750 pounds of paper material.
The 2750 pounds of shredded paper amounts to saving over roughly 25 trees, 250 gallons of gasoline, 4.5 yd.³ of landfill space, 8000 kilowatts of energy, and 11,000 gallons of water. This represents a 60% energy savings, a 51% water savings, and 100 pounds less of air pollution.
The Lions involved this event help not only our fellow man but also our planet! Plus we got to enjoy each other‘s company which kept the cold and snow at bay. It was cold out there! Way to go Lions.
