Please be advised the West Tisbury Police Department, in coordination with other Island police departments and the Martha’s Vineyard Tactical Response Team, will be conducting training this evening from 4 PM until 12 AM at the West Tisbury elementary school.

There are multiple roadwork details going on at the intersection of State Road and Old County Road. If possible use Lambert’s Cove Road to bypass and Scotchman’s Lane as necessary. Thank you for your patience.

We regret to inform we’ve received news that Herb Moody, a retired member of the department, has passed away after a battle with cancer. Herb served the town for over 20 years, he was a one of a kind man with a get to the point mentoring style who always took the time to care, may he rest in peace.

Congratulations to Chief “Elect” Bradley Cortez, along with Lt. Matt Gebo and Sgt. Jeremie Rogers for their professionalism through the chief selection process. Once the dust settles, and the old guy goes out to pasture, these three will continue the proud tradition of representing our town’s police department within the community. We thank the Selectboard for making a difficult decision and their continued guidance for our citizens and town.
