Dukes County Emergency Management Association (DCEMA) is excited to be back at the Martha's Vineyard Agricultural Society’s 164th Agricultural Fair with our Emergency Management Booth!

August is National Emergency Management Awareness Month, and we’re also in the middle of Atlantic hurricane season, making the Fair a perfect opportunity to learn a little more about how you, your family, and your community can be better prepared before an emergency happens.

We’re located outside the east side of the Agricultural Hall, directly next to the West Tisbury Police Department booth and just down from the Tri-Town EMS First Aid booth.

A series of emergencies have strained the Island community this summer, and understaffed first responders across the Island are raising concerns about public safety.

Island-wide figures from the Dukes County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) communication center, which fields the entire Island’s emergency calls, show that the number of police response calls haven’t actually gone up, but through interviews with many local chiefs, it’s clear that the severity and complexity of the calls has increased.
