Keeping our sidewalks clear is vital for the safety of students walking to school, mail carriers, and neighbors enjoying a walk. As noted below, please remember that snow and ice must be cleared within 24 hours of a storm to ensure safe passage for everyone.

City of West Union β Snow and Ice Removal Notice
The City of West Union reminds all property owners of their responsibility under City Ordinance 136.06 β Removal of Snow, Ice, and Accumulations.
Owners of property abutting public sidewalks are required to promptly remove snow, ice, and other accumulations from those sidewalks. If snow, ice, or accumulations are not removed within 24 hours, the City of West Union may cause the removal to be completed and assess the cost to the property owner, with collection made in the same manner as property taxes.
This ordinance is enforced to protect public safety and ensure safe pedestrian travel throughout the community.
The City of West Union appreciates the cooperation of all property owners in keeping sidewalks clear during winter weather events.
