Fayette County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Marty Fisher Sheriff Marty Fisher - Has been a resident of Fayette County for 30 years. He served as a Military Police Officer for the U.S.

He lives in West Union with his wife where he served as the West Union Police Department's Chief of Police prior to being elected Sheriff of Fayette County. Army from 1974 - 1977. His Law Enforcement experience also includes West Union Police Officer for 12 years, and a prior Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy from 1989 - 1999, in which he obtained the rank of Sergeant. Marty's educational background

includes: Attending the University of Hawaii ( majoring in Criminal Law ); Leadership and Management; Military Police Academy graduate; and a graduate from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 1978. He has been trained in: Conflict Management; Supervisor Management; Narcotic Investigation; Search and Seizure; Drug Recognition; Standard field Sobriety Testing; Civil Procedures; Domestic Violence and Child Abuse, and is a member of the Northeast Iowa Sexual Abuse Coalition.

On May 31st, 2026, at approximately 2:06 pm, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a residence in the City of Clermont regarding a fight. Upon deputies' arrival it was learned that Tyler James Forbes age 18 of Clermont and John David Forbes age 18 of Clermont had assaulted each other at the residence. Both Tyler Forbes and John Forbes were charged with Assault (Simple Misdemeanor) and both sustained minor injuries. The Forbes were transported to the Fayette County Jail to await an initial appearance. This incident remains under investigation, and more charges may be pending. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Clermont Ambulance.

On 5/31/2026 at approximately 5:43 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office responded to a car vs deer accident in the 26,000 block of Harding Road, approximately one mile east of Clermont. After further investigation, it was determined that Steven John Sadler, age 52 of Elgin, was operating a Blue 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan east bound when he struck a deer in the traveled portion of the roadway. Sadler reported no injuries. The Dodge sustained approximately $1500 in damages.

On 5-28-26, at approximately 12:15AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office arrested Megan Elizabeth Mcallister, 36 of Oran IA, for an active Fayette County Arrest Warrant, charge of Simple Assault. Mcallister was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where she was held on $300 cash/surety bond.

On 5-27-26, at approximately 9:30PM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a car deer accident near the intersection of Hwy 150/110th St. Fayette IA. It was found that Skylar Shay, 23 of Oelwein IA, was southbound on Highway 150, when a deer came into the roadway colliding with his vehicle. No injuries were reported and damage to the 2015 Hyundai Elantra was estimated at $1500.

PSA: during spring cleaning, please be on the lookout for uninvited guests.

On 5/30/2026, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a snake that was able to get behind the fridge in a resident’s kitchen. After the deputy moved the fridge, he was able to stick his hand inside the back of the fridge and grab the snake. With some graceful maneuvers, the snake came out peacefully, uninjured. The snake was released back into the wild.

On 5-28-26 at approximately 2:00 p.m. A Fayette County Deputy arrested Andy Anderson ,53 of Cedar Rapids. Anderson had a valid arrest warrant for Harassment in the 1st degree and bond was set in the amount of $2000.00 cash or surety. Anderson was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was held. the Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Cedar Rapids Police Department.

On 5/26/2026, Robert Joel Cole (44 y/o) from Postville, IA was arrested on an active Fayette County warrant for violation of parole. Robert was transported to the Fayette County Jail and was held on a no bond hold.

On 5-22-26 at approximately 10:35 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a car vs. deer accident on W Ave. north of 280th St. Upon further investigation the driver of the Ford transit van, James N. Stable, 33 of Cedar Rapids was traveling north when a deer ran into the roadway and struck the front of the van. The van sustained approximately $5000.00 dollars damage, and no one was injured in the accident.

On 5-26-26 at approximately 12:05 p.m. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office arrested Adam D. Nichols, 36 of Parkersburg on three valid Fayette County arrest warrants. THE first warrant was for careless driving, and bond was set in the amount of $300.00 unsecured with 10% cash deposit. Warrant two was for Failure to maintain control and bond was set in the amount of $300.00 unsecured with 10% acceptable. Warrant three was for striking Fixtures upon a highway and bond was set in the amount of $300.00 unsecured with 10% cash deposit. Nichols was booked into the Fayette County Jail and later posted bond and was given a promise to appear at a later date.

On May 22, 2026, at 12:49PM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on 20th Street, near the Clayton County line. When deputies arrived, it was learned that a 2004 Hyundai Elantra operated by a minor juvenile, had gone into the south ditch and rolled onto its top, totaling the vehicle. The driver was treated for minor injuries, and this incident remains under investigation. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.

On 05/26/26 a Fayette County Deputy was on routine patrol when he observed a male slumped over the wheel at Gouldsburg Park . An investigation determined that 31 year old John Jola Jr of Lansing had drove the vehicle to the park and was barred from driving. Jola was arrested and charged with driving while license barred and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jola was transported to the Fayette County Jail to await his initial appearance.

On May 25th, 2026, at approximately 2:26 PM, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call with reference to a female trespassing on a property in the 15000 block of 50th Street, Oelwein, IA. Upon Deputy arrival, the female was identified as Jolene Mardell Cain (age 45) of Oelwein. After further investigation, Jolene was placed under arrest for trespassing and public intoxication. She was transported to the Fayette County Jail where she was held for her initial appearance.

On May 25th, 2026, at approximately 4:36 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call due to a possible No Contact/Protective Order Violation in the 200 block of Olive Street, Westgate, IA. Deputies responded and after an investigation, Jesse Steven Moore (age 51) of Independence was arrested for a Violation of No Contact/Protective Order. Moore was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was held for his initial appearance.

On May 25th, 2026, at approximately 7:24 PM, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a fight/disturbance near the intersection of Diagonal Street/Main Street, Elgin, IA. After investigation, Nicole Elizabeth Kaye Benser (age 38) of Farmersburg, IA was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct, Interference with Official Acts, Possession of Controlled Substances – Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of Prescription Pill. Additionally, Fala-Simon Berger Armenta (age 43) of Postville was placed under arrest for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault - General, Driving While Barred, Reckless Driving, and Disorderly Conduct. Nicole and Fala-Simon were transported to the Fayette County Jail where they were held for their initial appearances.

On May 25th, 2026, at approximately William James Newton (age 32) of La Porte City, IA turned himself into the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office on an active arrest warrant for Probation Violation. William was taken into custody and held for his initial appearance.

On May 22nd, 2026 at approximately 2:15 pm the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a two-vehicle accident in the 18,000 block of 60th St. near Oelwein, Iowa. Deputies arrived on scene and conducted an investigation of the collision. It was determined that a white Chevrolet Aveo driven by 23 year old Jaylyn Gibbs of New Hartford was following too closely behind a red Chevrolet Equinox driven by 64 year old Elke Arthur of Westgate . Jaylyn was unable to stop in time rear-ended Arthur’s vehicle.
The Chevrolet Aveo sustained an estimated $8,000 worth of damage and the Chevrolet Equinox sustained an estimated $900.00 worth of damage. Jaylyn was cited for Following too closely. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Oelwein Fire Department, Mercy Oelwein Ambulance and B&L Auto Repair.

On 5/19/2026, a Fayette County deputy arrested Kristina Cornwell (39 y/o) from Lamont, IA for an active warrant due to a probation violation. Kristina was transported to the Fayette County Jail where she was held with a $2,000 bond.

On 5/21/2026 at approximately 12:22 PM, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a vehicle that had struck a tree. The driver, 17 year old juvenile of Hawkeye, was driving through Echo Valley Park when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. When deputies arrived on scene, the driver appeared dazed and the juvenile was transported to Gunderson Hospital for an evaluation. The vehicle received heavy front-end damage. During the investigation, it was learned that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. No serious injuries were reported. Fayette County was assisted by Gunderson Ambulance, West Union First Responders, and Torkelson Motors.

On 05/16/2026 at approximately 11:15 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault that occurred at Skip-A-Way Campground in Clermont. When Deputies arrived, it was learned a 14 year old Juvenile had assaulted and adult female. The adult refused medical treatment. The juvenile is being referred to juvenile courts.
