Fayette County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Marty Fisher Sheriff Marty Fisher - Has been a resident of Fayette County for 30 years. He served as a Military Police Officer for the U.S.

He lives in West Union with his wife where he served as the West Union Police Department's Chief of Police prior to being elected Sheriff of Fayette County. Army from 1974 - 1977. His Law Enforcement experience also includes West Union Police Officer for 12 years, and a prior Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy from 1989 - 1999, in which he obtained the rank of Sergeant. Marty's educational background

includes: Attending the University of Hawaii ( majoring in Criminal Law ); Leadership and Management; Military Police Academy graduate; and a graduate from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 1978. He has been trained in: Conflict Management; Supervisor Management; Narcotic Investigation; Search and Seizure; Drug Recognition; Standard field Sobriety Testing; Civil Procedures; Domestic Violence and Child Abuse, and is a member of the Northeast Iowa S*xual Abuse Coalition.

On 9/9/2026 at approximately 3:12 a.m. a Fayette County Deputy located a vehicle in the south ditch on 190th Street just west of R Avenue. Upon investigating the deputy located the driver of the red 2011 Ford F150 and identified him as Justin T. Yoerger age, 37 of West Union, IA. Upon completing the investigation, Justin was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated 3rd/subsequent offense, driving with a suspended driver’s license, and failure to maintain control. Justin was transported to the Fayette County Jail and held there pending initial appearance with a judge.

On September 5, 2026, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a domestic disturbance in the city of Eldorado. Upon arrival, deputies determined that 52-year-old Travis McIntyre had allegedly assaulted a female victim outside his residence. McIntyre was taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail. He has been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Strangulation and Interference with Official Acts. McIntyre is currently being held at the Fayette County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
On September 2nd, at approximately 4:25 PM, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an accident in the 5000 block of Derby Rd., Wadena, IA. Upon Deputy arrival, it was determined that Joseph Shull, of Cedar Falls, was traveling westbound in his white 2022 Aeromaster box truck when he struck a black bull that was in the roadway. The estimated damage caused was approximately $2,000.00. There were no injuries reported and the bull was deceased at the scene.

On September 1st, 2026, Justin Michael Shomacker (age 35) of Elgin, IA was taken into custody for 2 active arrest warrants for Probation Violation – No bond Hold, and S*x Offender Registry Violation – 2nd or Sub - $5,000.00 cash or surety bond. Justin was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was held for court. Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office.

On August 25th. 2026, at approximately 6:00 pm a Fayette County deputy initiated a traffic stop on D Avenue near the intersection of Bell Rd. Arlington. During the traffic stop the driver identified as Javier Rocque Rosas, 37 of Lansing was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance – Ma*****na 2nd Offense, Possession of Cannabidiol 1st Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense, and citations for Open Container, and Speeding. Rosas was transported to Fayette County Jail, where he was held until initial appearance.

On August 25th, 2026, Ashton Charles Swanson (age 23) of Waterloo, was taken into custody for an active arrest warrant for Violation of Probation. Ashton was held at the Fayette County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. Ashton was released after posting bond.

On 8-25-26, at approximately 8:45PM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office took a report of a car deer accident near the intersection of Hwy 3 and J Avenue, Stanley IA. When Sheriff's Deputy arrived on scene, it was found that Lily Ann Kallenbach, 25 of Norwalk IA, was travelling westbound on Hwy 3 when a deer came into the roadway striking her vehicle. No injuries were reported, and damage to the 2019 Nissan Rogue was estimated at $4,000.

On August 26, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported single-vehicle accident in the 1600 block of 230th Street. Upon arrival, deputies determined that 32-year-old Kelsey Bulman was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 when a whitetail deer entered the roadway. Bulman was unable to avoid striking the animal, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, enter a ditch, and roll over once. No injuries were reported at the scene. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Hawkeye Fire and EMS, Gundersen Palmer EMS, and Iowa Big Rig Tow Services.

On August 20, 2026, at approximately 9:29 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle accident in the 12,000 block of 210th street, approximately two miles southwest of West Union. After further investigation it was determined that Jose Alfredo Flores Lara, age 50 from Mexico, was operating a White 2017 Freightliner Cascadia 125 and hauling a load of pigs in a Silver 2019 M.H. Eby Trailer. The roadway surface conditions were dusty and caused low visibility. Flores Lara was attempting to make a left hand turn when he was rear-ended by a juvenile driving a Red 2014 Ford F150 truck. Flores Lara reported no injuries and the Trailer received approximately $10,000 in damages. No injuries were reported to the pigs. The minor driver received serious injuries and was transported to Gundersen Hospital in West Union by Gundersen Ambulance. There was also two additional minors in the Ford who received minor injuries and were transported to Gundersen Hospital in West Union by Fayette Ambulance. The Ford is a total loss. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the West Union Fire Department, Gundersen Ambulance, Fayette Ambulance, West Union Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, and the Department of Transportation. This accident remains under investigation.
