On October 5th from 11am-12pm, West U Library is going to the dogs! Join us for the return of our regular monthly event designed to help reluctant or shy readers gain confidence, with the help of some very good dogs. Paws for Therapy will provide trained therapy dogs, ready to help your child practice their reading! Each participant will get 15 minutes to read a book of their choice to a friendly, non-judgemental dog. It’s guaranteed to be a doggone good time.

Advanced registration is required. Please email [email protected] no later than October 3rd to reserve your spot. You will be contacted before the event with more information, including the time of your spot. As the number of dogs present may vary from session to session, we cannot guarantee the same number of slots for each session.

Learn why the youth votes matter! In this presentation on September 30th, we discuss the importance of the youth vote by having conversations about which issues matter to youth, why youth don’t register or go out to vote, and discussing why older generations have higher voter registration and voting history. During the presentation, we also provide a step-by-step process on how to register to vote. We conclude the presentation by informing youth about important voting deadlines and how to create a voting plan. Join us on September 30th at 5:30pm! Presented by the League of Women Voters of Houston.
