West Valley City Firefighters Association

International Association of Firefighters Local 2970

Who We Are:

The West Valley City Firefighters Association is the local chapter of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF). We also belong to the Professional Firefighters of Utah (PFFU). Membership is voluntary, and is available to current and retired members of the West Valley City Fi

re Department. Dues are paid by all members to maintain their active status. What we do:

The West Valley Firefighters Association advocates for safe staffing levels to provide effective firefighting and emergency medical responses that allow us to protect the public and reduce firefighter injuries and deaths. We advocate for fair pay and benefits to keep West Valley Firefighters competitive compared to surrounding cities. We advocate for fair pension and retirement plans. Firefighters generally can only work 20-30 years because of the physical nature of the job. We contribute time and money to many charities such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), Burn Camp, National Fallen Firefighters Fund, etc. How you can help us:

Do ALL of your shopping in West Valley City. Sales tax collected in West Valley City helps to fund a better fire department. Vote for firefighter friendly political candidates and contact your current senators, representatives, city council members, and any other politician that you can. Ask them to vote for measures that fund your fire department and protect you and your family. Thank you for your support!

Recently, One of our crews, 72A were dispatched to a house fire. With a known victim, Captain Tyson Rolfe, Sr. FF Grant Brimhall, FF Zach Lentz, FF Justin Longman, FF Mallory Tyler, and FF Cole Smith made a hasty entrance and search of the structure. They were able to extract the caller. Their efforts were supported by Engineer Alek House on the pump panel and Battalion Chief Sean Hoffman in command.

Outside and en route to definitive care, the victim, badly burned and with inhalation injuries, received critical care provided by CCP Kyle Bavasi, FF Braeden Scott and a UFA Crew. His care involved advanced airway support unique to West Valley Firefighters, giving him the best chance at survival.

This incident highlights the dedication and talent of West Valley Professional Firefighters.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

There are people in this career who leave a mark on you forever, Tony Duke-Rosati was one of those people, our brother in every sense of the word. He carried the weight of this profession with strength, courage, pride, and humility. He led by example, earned respect through his actions, and stood shoulder to shoulder with us through the best and worst this career has to offer.

Behind the gear, the calls, and the tough exterior, we’re still human. We see things most people never will. We carry it home with us, whether we want to or not. And sometimes, the hardest battles we fight aren’t on scene or during a shift… they’re in our own heads.

Tony, we’ve got it from here. We’ll carry your name, your memory, and your legacy with us.

To our brothers and sisters still in the fight, check on each other. Talk to someone. You are never alone, even when it feels like you are. There is no weakness in asking for help.

Rest in peace Brother.
