This weekend, the West Valley Track & Field team competed at the Section VI State Qualifier in Alden, NY.

Olivia Harmony ran a season-best 7:47.06 in the 2000m steeplechase, finishing second. Karly Otto had a strong showing in two field events, placing 6th in shot put (33-6.25) and 8th in discus (97-1). On the boys side, Noah Klahn posted a 4:28.40 mile, finishing third. Olivia and Noah both earned section patches for their top-4 finishes.

It was a great effort all around from these three athletes!

Ms. Burgett's Crimes in Buffalo class headed to the city last week for a history tour covering Buffalo before and after the Erie Canal โ€” including how the canal brought a wave of crime along with it. Their guide, Joel Dombrowski, brought the stories to life through different personas, including "Officer O'Connell," and took the group aboard the SS Sullivan. The day wrapped up with a stop at the Anchor Bar.
