Learn to play Rugby! Partnering with the West Des Moines Wombats Rugby Club, participants will learn how to play the game of rugby. They will participate in different drills, learn the rules, and get a chance to scrimmage! This is not a full-contact program; rules will be modified to a "two-hand touch" version of the sport.

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‚ Itโ€™s back! Fall in Love with a Good Book Club: Speed Dating is returning to the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater!

Want to find your people and maybe your next book club? Come out Sunday, September 13 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm to swap favorite books, chat with other readers, and see which group might be a good fit.

Weโ€™re teaming up with the West Des Moines Public Library, and their Words on Wheels (WoW) vehicle will be there to help groups choose a first book. Bring your own drinks if youโ€™d like (no glass, per amphitheater rules).

After speed dating, stick around for Autumn at the Amphitheater featuring The Juan & Only! ๐ŸŽถ Food trucks will be on-site, so grab something to eat, enjoy the music, and hang out with your new book club friends.

Help Our Parks Thrive โ€” Pull a W**d, Plant a Future!

Join us on September 17 from 4:30โ€“6:30 pm at Crossroads Park for a hands-on volunteer event with City staff and a Naturalist!

Weโ€™ll be caring for the parkโ€™s bioswaleโ€”a planted, sloped area that naturally filters stormwater, improves water quality, and supports native plants and wildlife. Regular maintenance is essential, and removing invasive species helps keep this living system healthy and functioning.

No experience needed. Training, tools, and gloves are provided.
Come enjoy the outdoors, learn about local ecology, and make a meaningful impact!
