MassLive recently wrote an article on how MA residents are using the no-cost AI training available through the Governor Maura Healey, MA AI Hub & Grow with Google partnership. 

Since this no-cost training launched, 37K+ MA residents have signed up, nearly 60% of enrollees are employed, more than 54% are professionals looking to upskill & more than 45% listed improving their current job skills as a goal. Their reporting also found strong per-capita participation in several Western MA communities including Belchertown, Greenfield, Easthampton & South Hadley.

The MA AI Hub & MeHI are sponsoring the -Centric AI Summit on Friday, Sept. 25 at MIT Media Lab in Cambridge as an official event of 2026.
 
The summit will bring together leaders from hospitals, health plans, public health agencies, academia, community organizations & health technology to examine how AI can be designed & used responsibly in healthcare while balancing innovation, privacy, patient safety & equitable outcomes.
 
Participants will develop a 90-day AI Governance Action Plan tied to patient safety, workforce trust & equitable outcomes, along with practical tools to assess readiness for change, stakeholder impact & value beyond financial measures.

Office of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey & the Innovation Institute announced $6.6M via the RoboBench program to expand the specialized infrastructure MA robotics companies & researchers need to move technologies from development to testing & manufacturing. 

Awards to Boston University, MassRobotics, University of Massachusetts Amherst & Worcester Polytechnic Institute will support shared facilities, equipment & manufacturing resources for robotics applications across advanced manufacturing, agriculture, marinetech, healthcare & other industries. 

These four projects will help address infrastructure gaps between early-stage development & commercialization including small-batch manufacturing, field testing & specialized medical robotics testing. Together, the projects will leveragemore than $1.9M in additional matching resources from industry & academic partners. 

With more than 500 robotics companies & 100 robotics R&D labs across MA, RoboBench is designed to strengthen shared infrastructure that can help companies develop, test & bring new technologies to market.

In 2024 Capybara Energy was developing a safer solution to clean energy storage in New Hampshire, but needed support to scale. CAM’s $1.1M M2I2 grant helped them move to MA, build a Woburn facility & hire MA-based talent. 
 
CAM Senior Manager Zhuqing Wang recently toured Capybara Energy’s Woburn lab with CapyBara Energy CEO Matthew Millard, who highlighted how M2I2 funding has supported the company’s growth in MA. 
 
CAM’s investment helped change the trajectory of the company, providing resources to establish its operations in MA & continue developing its energy storage technology. 
 
Capybara’s story is an exemplar of how targeted investments in advanced manufacturing can attract growing companies to MA, create local jobs & build manufacturing capacity around emerging technologies.

The MA AI Hub & Grow with Google Google just added a new course to the Google AI Professional Certificate, focusing on vibe coding, available at no cost to MA residents.
 
The new course, AI for App Deployment, teaches learners how to plan, prototype, debug & securely deploy simple apps using everyday language, with no coding experience required. Through hands-on projects, learners can build practical skills for creating custom tools that address workplace needs.
 
Learners who have already completed the certificate can access the new course by logging into Coursera , navigating to “My Learning” & selecting “Completed” to reopen the updated certificate.

There’s still time to help shape the next generation of health care innovators. Applications to become a mentor for MeHI & Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences 2026 Hack the Health Gap Innovation Program close Wednesday, Aug. 19. 

Throughout the semester, students tackle real-world challenges affecting rural health, public health & community-based care to create practical solutions that can move beyond the classroom. 

Mentors bring important real-world perspectives to students’ work. Professionals across health care, digital health, entrepreneurship, public health, operations, technology & business can share their experience as students navigate topics ranging from patient engagement & clinical workflows to workforce support, operational efficiency & implementation. 

Applications close Aug. 19.

CAM is looking for startups developing AI solutions for small- to medium-sized manufacturers to compete in the AI in Manufacturing Pitch Contest at Gillette Stadium on October 27th for the MA Manufacturing Mash-Up. 

Selected companies will pitch their technology to a panel of manufacturing leaders, receive live feedback & compete for commercialization support.
