Ticks that have bit/fed on Westbrook residents can be submitted to the Westbrook Health Department for free testing of species and diseases, such as Lyme disease, Babesiosis, and Anaplasmosis.

Simply put the tick in a small bag, or preferably a crush proof container, fill out the Tick Submission form from the link below, and drop the tick and form off to the Westbrook Health Department or Westbrook Land Use Office.

The Westbrook Health Department began our routine, weekly bathing water testing program at Westbrook Town Beach (West Beach) yesterday on 5/20/2026.

Water test results showed safe and acceptable water quality as per the Connecticut Department of Public Health bathing water standards.

Routine sampling and testing will continue through Labor Day.

🚨 LISTERIA RECALL ALERT! 🚨

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has raised a recall of Pecorino Romano cheese to Class I, the most serious type. Eating this cheese could cause serious illness or even death. The recall was issued by Ambriola Company, which supplies brands including Boar’s Head and Locatelli.

πŸ›’ These products were sold in Connecticut stores, including Big Y and Wegmans.

If you have any of these items:
-Do not eat them
-Throw them away or return them to the store

If you or someone in your household ate the recalled cheese, watch for signs of Listeria infection, which can include:
-Fever
-Muscle aches

-Trouble with balance
-Seizures

Symptoms usually appear within two weeks, but can show up the same day or up to 10 weeks later.
