A Westby Area High School tradition is receiving national recognition! 🏆✨

The 2024 edition of "The Ski" has been featured in the 2026 Jostens Look Book, with the yearbook’s Boys Basketball page recognized for its photography, inclusive coverage and use of color. 📖📸🏀

Congratulations to the student creators, including 2024 Editor in Chief Ali Fortun and Design Editor Erin Gluch, along with advisor Mrs. Monica Derks, on this incredible achievement! 🎉👏

🏈 JV2 Update for Monday, August 31st 🏈

Per recommendations from our athletic trainer, readings from the Wet Bulb Globe Thermometer, and support from WIAA and our district administrator, tonight's JV2 football game is CANCELED.

Our student-athletes safety is our number one priority. Thank you.

Please help us welcome Cody Grimsled, a new Fifth Grade Math and Social Studies Teacher at Westby Middle School! 👏

"Hi everyone! My name is Cody Grimsled and I will be teaching 5th grade Math and Social Studies at Westby Middle School!

I am originally from De Soto, Wisconsin and graduated from high school there. I then went to college at the University of Wisconsin Platteville, where I met my wife Alyssa!

After college, I got a job at Platteville Middle School where I taught 5th grade and also coached JV baseball, and football during my 5 years there. We decided to move closer to family once our daughter, Rosella, was born and I got a job teaching 5th grade in Stoddard for the next 2 years. I took a year off of teaching when Beau was born, and started subbing in the district a few times per week. With my wife already working with Westby as a school-based therapist and our daughter starting 4K this year, when a 5th grade spot opened up it felt like the last piece of the puzzle falling into place.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, golfing, reading, and sports of any kind. I am unfortunately a Dallas Cowboys fan, so bear with me as I ride the highs and many lows of the upcoming season.

I'm very excited to be a part of the Westby School District, and excited to start meeting my students and their families that make this community so great!"

The first day of school is almost here, and WES is excited to see students back in the halls on Tuesday, September 1st! ❤️

Please help us welcome Kennedy Strangstalien, a new Sixth Grade English Teacher at Westby Middle School! 👏

"Hi everyone! My name is Kennedy Strangstalien and I am so excited to be the new 6th grade English teacher at Westby Middle School!

I grew up in Holmen, Wisconsin. After high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where, in May, I received a bachelor's degree in Elementary-Middle Education.

Outside of school, you can find me spending time with family, creating art, watching movies, or spending time with my cats.

This will be my first year at Westby and my first year of teaching! While my dad moved to Holmen to raise my sister and me, he grew up here and is a Westby alum. When I started looking for a place to begin my teaching career, coming back to the area where much of my family still lives felt like the perfect fit. The close-knit community of the school district made my choice that much clearer.

I am so excited to be part of the Westby area community and can't wait to meet my students and families. I'm looking forward to a wonderful first year!"
