Today we hosted a live animal education program by Zoozort Live Animal Programs and invited the 4th graders from the Westby Area School District to join us for the fun!

This special program was made possible by Cindy Leis in honor of her mother, Kathleen Spears, a former resident at Norseland Nursing Home.

Kathleen always enjoyed live animal programs and loved when students were able to visit. This event felt like the perfect way to honor her memory while bringing generations together.

Thank you to Kathleen’s family for making National Nursing Home Week extra special and for choosing to honor your mother in such a meaningful way. So many smiles, laughter, and wonderful memories were shared throughout the day!

We had an absolutely wonderful time learning all about eagles during a special live eagle visit from the National Eagle Center!

Residents and staff alike enjoyed the opportunity to see these majestic birds up close while learning fascinating facts about their habitats, behaviors, and the important role they play in nature. It was an engaging and memorable experience filled with smiles, curiosity, and great conversation.

A heartfelt thank you to Ruth and Dave Amundson for their generous monetary gift, which made this incredible program possible. Their kindness helped create a meaningful experience for everyone involved.

This special event was held in honor of National Nursing Home Week, making the celebration even more memorable for our residents, families, and staff. We are so grateful for the support and community connections that help bring opportunities like this to our home!

🎪 National Nursing Home Week is off to a fantastic start! Today’s Carnival Day celebration was held in loving memory of former resident Sue Jensen.

Residents were amazed and entertained by a special performance from The Magic of Isaiah, enjoyed sweet cotton candy treats, and took part in the classic game “Pin the Tail on the Donkey.” The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter, and a little friendly competition between residents and staff.

What a wonderful day of fun, memories, and connection! 🎡🍭✨

Nicole, Norseland’s dedicated Social Worker, spent the afternoon connecting with community members at the Vernon County Senior Fair—and what a wonderful event it was! She had the opportunity to visit with so many seniors, families, and local partners, sharing information about available services, answering questions, and simply enjoying meaningful conversations.

Events like these are such a valuable way to stay engaged with the community, strengthen relationships, and ensure people know where to turn for support. Nicole truly enjoyed hearing everyone’s stories and seeing the strong sense of connection that makes this community so special. Looking forward to the next opportunity to get out and connect again!

Today we brought a little Southern charm and Derby day excitement to our community with a Kentucky Derby themed celebration! Residents showed off their creativity by designing fabulous derby hats, enjoyed refreshing mint juleps, and got in on the action by placing friendly bets during our horse racing game.

There were plenty of laughs, a bit of “horseplay,” and lots of festive spirit all around. Now the only question left is—which lucky horse will race its way to victory at the big event? We can’t wait to find out! 🐎🎩

We are also incredibly grateful to the local businesses that generously donated baskets. Thanks to everyone’s support, we raised $701 for the Recreation Therapy Department!

We had such a wonderful time exploring the flowers and browsing the market at Valley Market in C**n Valley! 🌸 Residents shared sweet memories of gardening and caring for their own flowers, which made the experience even more special. With so many beautiful blooms, choosing a favorite was nearly impossible. It truly was a fun and joy-filled outing for everyone!
