Last night members worked on hose line advancement and assisting the town cleaning the floor of the pavilion in advance of the towns independence celebration this Saturday. While the tanker went for water some mebers worked on ladder operations.

The Westerlo Vol Fire Company would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Cottekill Vol Fire Company, on the Line of Duty passing of Chief David Gagnon. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chief Gagnon’s family, as well as the members affected by this tragic loss.

Saturday members and tanker 39-30 took part in New Salem fires annual big water drill. Our tanker hauled 15,000 gallons of water in two hours. A special thanks to New Salem for putting together a great drill and its always great to

Happy Father’s Day from the Westerlo Fire Company! 🚒❤️

Today, we recognize and celebrate all the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who serve our community and support their families with dedication, strength, and compassion.
A special thank you goes out to the dads of the Westerlo Fire Company who answer the call at all hours while balancing the responsibilities of family life. Your commitment to both your loved ones and your community does not go unnoticed.

Over the course of Wednesday evening and most of Saturday, members participated in FAST (Firefighter Assist and Search Team) training, developing and refining the skills necessary to operate as an effective FAST team.

Participants dedicated many hours to hands on training and practical evolutions, demonstrating a strong commitment to improving their knowledge, proficiency, and teamwork. Their hard work and dedication were evident throughout the training.

Thank you to all of the members who took part and continue to invest in their training to help keep our department moving forward.

Westerlo Fire sends our deepest condolences to the members of Greenville Fire for the loss of a devoted life member and pillar of their agency. They and the family of Fran are in our hearts and prayers while they deal with this great loss.

It is with deep sadness that I share that Fire Company, Auxiliary Life Member, Past long time Treasurer and Fire Police member Frances Sickles passed today around noon.

Westerlo responded mutual aid to Greenville with a tanker and engine crew, assisting with initial fire attack and extensive overhaul operations throughout the night. After clearing the scene, crews remained on standby for Greenville for an additional two hours.

Proud to stand alongside Greenville and all of the surrounding departments that answered the call. Nights like this are a reminder of what small town fire service is all about, neighbors helping neighbors, departments helping departments, and everyone coming together when it matters most.

Keeping the family affected by this fire in our thoughts.
