Do you ever wonder who’s the person behind our emergency calls to 911? All you may know about them is their voice, which is why National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW), observed every second week in April, has been set aside to recognize and celebrate the work of telecommunicators (commonly referred to as Dispatchers) helping to save millions of lives every day. If it weren’t for them flawlessly doing their jobs, innumerable lives would have been lost due to untimely assistance. So, throughout this week, we honor and thank those invisible front line responders who have continued to serve in this demanding profession. Without you help does not get to those in need.

Congratulations to two of our paramedics on a milestone career achievement. Paramedic Ryan Koons and Paramedic Dan Post have added some letters behind their name. Both recently passed the Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C) exam. This is one of the toughest exams and most highly coveted certifications a paramedic can obtain. It covers extensive critical care concepts including ventilator management, lab values and equations, imaging interpretation, flight physiology, invasive monitoring adjuncts and more. We are extremely proud (and not surprised at all) to see them both take this next step advancing their knowledge base and career.

As a side note….anyone wanna start a GoFundMe to add a helicopter to our fleet?? 😁

As we all continue to dig out and work to return to normal operations our department would like to say a huge thank you to all of our providers and dispatchers on their ceaseless efforts over the last few days. Several of them were here for the duration of the storm working longer shifts with high call volume than typically required. Throughout it all they have set the example of what it means to put service above self and we could not be more proud of their dedication.

Thank you to the law enforcement and fire departments that have provided manpower, plows, shoveling, and general mutual assistance on top of their own agencies and jobs responsibilities.

We continue to respond regularly within the community and ask if you are able please clear a walk path to assist access for our providers should you need us. Thank you!
