✨ UPDATE! UPDATE!! …Our new space is buzzing as renovations have begun with new drywall, electrical and making sure we have enough "dedicated" (powerful 😁)outlets for our sewing machines and irons!

RENOVATION UPDATE: WE UNCOVERED SOMETHING MAGICAL! 🔨✨

As we officially kicked off renovations at our new forever home (the old Cord Camera building in Westerville!), we couldn't help but wonder about the history hidden behind the walls... 🧱❤️

Looking at the building, we noticed clues of arched windows that were completely covered up by drywall on the inside and stucco on the outside. We knew there was a tiny peek of stained glass at the top of the old drive-thru arch, but we (mostly Adam Edward Price 😁) was so curious to know: Do you want to expose the windows? What did they look like?! 🤔

Tearing into the walls was a big deal, so we hesitated—until our amazing contractor Daman gave us the ultimate green light:

"Sure, take a little off to see—we can fix it!"

So, we took a peek... AND LOOK WHAT WE FOUND!! 😍🎉

✨ BEAUTIFUL arched windows—and EVERY SINGLE ONE has stunning stained glass! 🌈

✨ And we uncoverd ANOTHER arched window with clear glass (which we plan to turn into stained glass in the future!). 🤩

✨ We also exposed GORGEOUS brick walls that add so much warmth, history, and character to our space!

There is something so deeply meaningful about uncovering hidden beauty and letting the light shine back through. It feels like a beautiful reflection of our mission—taking what was once hidden or uncertain and WRAPPING it in warmth, love, and hope! 🧵❤️

We are excitedl to preserve these historic treasures as we turn this building into a bright, welcoming space for our Blanket Angel volunteers and the children we serve!

🎉 WE HAVE HUGE NEWS... WE FOUND OUR FOREVER HOME! 🏡✨💙💚

Back in March, we received news that made our hearts sink: an email letting us know our current lease would not be renewed.

In an instant, our world was upended—giving us a deeply humbling glimpse into the reality faced by the youth we serve, whose lives can change in a single moment without warning.

Suddenly, our physical space and where we would go next - was completely uncertain.

Finding a new home that fit our needs felt like a tall order, but if there’s one thing the My Very Own Blanket knows how to do, it’s turn uncertainty into hope! 🧵💚💙

AND…the Good News?! 😇

After months of searching, we are thrilled, humbled, and overjoyed to announce that we have officially purchased a permanent building to call “our very own”! 🗝️🙌

If you know Westerville, you’ll recognize it right away... "the old Cord Camera" building! 📸

Having a forever home means:
✨ Permanence: No more lease renewals or moving stresses. 🏡
✨ Impact: A dedicated hub to create, store, and distribute even more blankets and quilts to children and youth in foster care. 💞
✨ Community: A welcoming space for our incredible Blanket Angel volunteers to gather and wrap kids in love. 🥰

We could not have reached this massive milestone without the relentless love and support of our board members, volunteers, donors, and community!! You kept our faith strong when the path wasn't clear, and now we get to build the future together…“Wrapped in Hope”!! 🩵

FEEL GOOD MOMENT ⏰ 💚💙
A note from Alicia’s Closet…a mom came in to shop our free store. I could immediately see the stress she was carrying. She quietly shopped for clothing for her three kids. I knew she had also requested bedding, and when I showed her the larger quilts we received from My Very Own Blanket, her whole face lit up! She was so excited to get quilts in coordinating colors for her girls' room. When we opened a quilt that we thought could work for her son, the one side had a huge, beautiful image of wolves on it. She was thrilled! I know those quilts took someone a lot of time and effort. I wish they could see the big smile on her face and the way the stress was taken away. Thank you to your organization and the many volunteers who helped to lift the spirit of this wonderful Mom! 🥰

Was at the Asian Festival this past weekend! Great job by the organizers despite the rain! The BEST part we met a former foster youth who received a blanket from us! She is so grateful for the love it brought her and asked to get involved more with MVOB now as an adult! 💚💙

It meant so much for our founder, Jessica Rudolph (Class of ’89), to return to Buckeye Central and share the heart behind My Very Own Blanket. Watching students jump in and give back made it even more meaningful.
