A phone call, a walk, or time spent catching up with someone you care about can strengthen relationships and support your overall well being. Make time this week to connect with someone and enjoy a little quality time together!

A new school year is here! 🍎 As students head back to the classroom, getting back into healthy routines can support a strong start. Getting enough sleep, staying up to date on routine checkups and vaccines, practicing good hygiene, and packing nutritious lunches can all help children feel their best as they settle into the school year.

Wishing all the students and families in our communities a healthy and successful school year ahead!

Back to school means earlier mornings, so now is a good time to start getting sleep schedules back on track. Gradually moving bedtime and wake-up time closer to the school day schedule can make the transition easier once that first alarm goes off.

As you adjust those times, focus on creating a consistent evening routine that supports a good night’s sleep. Limit screen time before bed and aim for the recommended amount of sleep based on your child’s age so they can start the year well-rested and ready to learn. 🍎

Persistent itchy or scaly patches of skin shouldn't be ignored. They may be a sign of psoriasis, which affects more than the skin and can impact day-to-day comfort.

During Psoriasis Awareness Month, take some time to learn more about the condition and talk with a healthcare provider if you're experiencing symptoms or looking for ways to better manage them.

Stainless steel scrubbers may be great at tackling tough messes, but they aren't always the safest choice for cookware. They can shed tiny metal fragments that stick to pots and pans, potentially contaminating food if they aren't fully removed.

For a safer approach, consider using nylon abrasive pads, nylon bristle brushes, or plastic scrapers with non-metal pads. If you do use steel wool or a metal scrubber, replace it as soon as it starts losing its shape or shedding fibers, then thoroughly rinse and inspect cookware under bright light after cleaning.

Being mindful of the tools you use in the kitchen is another important part of keeping food safe. 🧽

As students head back to school, it's a great time to review safe walking, biking, and bus riding habits. 🎒 Here are a few important reminders:

🚸 Practice the route to the bus stop or school before the first day.
🚸 Use sidewalks whenever possible and cross the street at marked crosswalks.
🚸 Wear a properly fitted helmet every time you ride a bike.
🚸 Stay alert around school buses and never cross in front of the bus until the driver signals it's safe.
🚸 Put phones and other distractions away while walking or biking.

Reviewing these safety reminders before the first day of school can help children build safe habits that last all year.
