🗳️ Today is Election Day in New Jersey!

Polls are open today, June 2, for the New Jersey Primary Election. Whether you’re voting before work, after school, or on your lunch break, every vote is an opportunity to have a say in the future of your community.

As members of the community we serve, we encourage all eligible voters to make their voices heard and participate in the democratic process. 🇺🇸

No matter the outcome, WVRS remains committed to serving Westfield 24/7, 365 days a year.

Behind every call, standby, late night, and early morning response is a volunteer choosing to show up for their community. ❤️

For EMS Week, we gifted our members portable chargers as a small token of appreciation for the dedication, commitment, and time they continue to give to WVRS and the residents of Westfield.

Thank you to our volunteers for everything you do, both on and off the ambulance. We appreciate you today and every day. 🔋🚑

Last Tuesday, WVRS was presented with an official proclamation from the recognizing Emergency Medical Services Week. We are proud to stand alongside EMS providers across the country being recognized for the care, commitment, and teamwork that keep our communities safe every day. 🚑

Thank you to the Town Council and for this recognition and for supporting emergency medical services in Westfield. 💙

Honored to attend today’s Memorial Day ceremony alongside the Westfield Fire Department as we remembered and paid tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸

Slide 2 recognizes two of our own, Susan and Deshawn, who were presented with an award for a CPR save. Their quick actions, teamwork, and dedication made a life-saving difference, and we could not be prouder.

Slide 3 features our members with Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshal Bob D’Arecca, who dedicated twenty years to the squad as a dispatcher. Thank you, Bob, for your years of service and commitment to both WVRS and the Westfield community.

Today was a reminder of the importance of service, sacrifice, and community. We are grateful to stand alongside so many dedicated individuals who continue to give back to Westfield every day.❤️💙🤍

Please join us in congratulating our Training Lieutenant, Habiba, on receiving the Excellence in EMS Award from Overlook Medical Center! 🏆🚑

Anyone who has worked with Habiba knows this recognition is more than deserved. Her leadership, knowledge, patience, and dedication to EMS make a lasting impact on our squad every single day. From training new members to helping shape confident providers on calls, she constantly goes above and beyond for both our team and the community we serve.

WVRS is incredibly lucky to have someone so passionate, hardworking, and genuinely caring leading the way. Congratulations, Habiba. We are so proud of you and grateful for everything you do. ❤️

Amazing team to be apart of! Happy EMS Week!!

During National EMS Week, the Westfield Police Department proudly recognizes and thanks all EMS professionals for their dedication, compassion, and lifesaving service to our community.

Today, we specifically recognize the Town of Westfield, NJ Fire Department.

The members of the Westfield Fire Department are certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and often respond with the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad to various medical emergencies throughout town.

National EMS Week was first authorized in 1974 by President Gerald Ford to honor the vital work performed by emergency medical personnel across the country. Since then, EMS Week has served as an opportunity to recognize the paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, nurses, and first responders who answer the call day and night, often during someone’s worst moment.

Every emergency response is a team effort, and we are grateful for the strong partnership we share with the EMS professionals who work alongside our officers to protect and care for the residents of Westfield.

Thank you for your professionalism, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to serving others.

“WHO YOU GONNA CALL?” 🚑

Westfield’s been calling WVRS since 1951.

Had to give our ambulances their moment for EMS Week. These rigs have seen it all: emergency calls, standbys, community events, 3 a.m. alarms, and everything in between.

The lights and siren may make them look cool, but it’s the volunteers inside that keep them moving. We hope every time you see us, you feel a little bit safer🫂💙

Yesterday, WVRS was proud to provide standby coverage for Greta’s Run 5K. 💜

Founded in memory of Greta Schoenemann, the event brings the Westfield community together each year to honor loved ones lost and support those coping with grief and loss. It was an honor to be part of such a meaningful day centered around remembrance, support, and community.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and helped keep Greta’s legacy alive. 🏃‍♀️💜

Happy EMS Week 2026! 💙🚑

WVRS has proudly served the Westfield community since 1951, remaining fully volunteer while providing emergency medical care 24/7, 365 days a year.

In 1974, President Gerald Ford officially recognized EMS Week as a national celebration, honoring the dedication and impact of EMS providers across the country. This year, EMS Week is celebrated May 17–23.

Thank you to all EMS providers for your commitment, compassion, and countless hours spent helping others. And thank you to the Westfield community for continuing to support volunteer EMS 🙏

Rain or shine, WVRS is ready ☀️⛺️

Thanks to the support of our community, we’re excited to add a new tent to our standby and event setup. From community events to training days and emergency scenes, this tent will help keep our members, equipment, and patients covered when it matters most.

As a fully volunteer rescue squad, upgrades like this are only possible because of the generous support of the Westfield community. Thank you for continuing to help us serve Westfield 24/7 ❤️
