Former U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel, who served as President Barack Obama's chief of staff during his first term, and later went on to serve as mayor of Chicago from 2011-19, is coming to Westfield on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. to campaign for Rebecca Bennett for Congress. Emanuel is also considered a potential candidate for president in 2028.

The event is open to everyone, and you are invited and encouraged to attend. It’s a great opportunity to hear from a prominent national Democratic leader and show our support for Rebecca.

Afterwards, volunteers can head out into the community to talk with voters about the issues facing our district, share Rebecca’s vision for NJ-07, and help grow support for the campaign. These conversations are one of the most important ways we connect with voters and win elections

It may be the dog days of August, but that didn't stop volunteers from showing up at The People’s Patio in Westfield to canvass for Rebecca Bennett for Congress. With Labor Day still ahead of us, this kind of turnout says a lot about the enthusiasm behind Rebecca’s campaign and we're just getting started. Volunteers are enthusiastic, fired up and willing to put in the work to flip this seat and send Rebecca to Congress.

In his first budget as Assemblyman representing Westfield, Vincent Kearney delivered $611,000 to help the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad purchase a new ambulance. This investment will benefit our community for years to come. Thank you, Assemblyman Kearny, for putting Westfield first.

The Westfield Democratic Committee is deeply saddened by the passing of Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi, who dedicated more than five decades to public service. She earned the respect of colleagues across New Jersey through her integrity, professionalism and commitment to fair and accessible elections. Those of us in Westfield were fortunate to know Joanne not only as an outstanding public servant, but as someone who was always there when we needed her. She was responsive, knowledgeable and helpful, always taking the time to answer our questions. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Joanne's family, friends, colleagues who had the privilege of working alongside her. Her legacy of service to Union County and the people of New Jersey will endure for generations. Rest in peace, Joanne.

We want to thank all the volunteers who came out during the primary campaign to canvass and phone bank on Rebecca's behalf. Today is Day in New Jersey. If you are a Democrat in CD7, today is an especially important day. We're picking the candidate who will face off against a do-nothing Republican absentee Congressman this fall. We want to thank state Assemblyman Vincent Kearney for showing his support to the Westfield Democrats last night at our Spring fundraiser. It's great to hear what he's been doing for the district since he took office in January. Also, many thinks to Mayor Jeremy Berman for the updates on Westfield.
