With heavy hearts, our members accepted the resignation of our leader, Fire Chief William Goltz, on Monday, June 1st, 2026, for personal reasons. Chief Goltz has been instrumental in fostering an environment of growth, learning, continuous improvement and expansion; enabling the 5 House to bring in many new members, many changes to our firehouse culture and standard operating procedures, literally millions in grant funding, many changes to our fleet, the purchase of land for a future fire station, and the building of a training center on property owned by the department. His calm, effective leadership style was on full display when he lead our department through its toughest day in recent history: the flood of August 9th. 2024, standing in water, running command from our flooded fire station. He is a leader that allows his people to take ownership and lead themselves, a "Firefighter's Chief," a fierce advocate for his people, and one heck of a firefighter. We are thankful that he is only stepping down as Chief and will remain a vital member of our company.
Per our bylaws, our assistant chiefs have moved up to fill the roles ahead of them on the org chart. Brent Skelton is now Chief 5, Marty Heyler 1st Assistant Chief 5-10, Kyle Mack 2nd Asst Chief 5-20. Andrew Adams was voted into the position of 3rd Asst Chief 5-30 via motion. Wayne Boka will serve as our Alternate Delegate to the TCFA.
Thank you to all who have stepped up to lead during this time of transition, and thank you Chief Goltz for your tireless dedication to our department over your years of service.
