Just when you think 8 scholarship winners are exciting then our club received notice of a District 7090 scholarship winner!

At the Chautauqua Lake Central School’s Honors Night, Youth Services Chairman, Dan Smith made a special presentation. Here is his presentation:

“And now as an extra Scholarship winner from our Rotary District which has awarded 3- $1200 scholarships. Applications were accepted from over 60 Rotary Clubs in our District (WNY AND CA). Our club alone submitted 9 applications from our 4 area HS’s, so there were well over 100 applicants for these scholarships.

Dayne Jantzi, please join me for winning this Rotary District Scholarship of $1,200.

To Qualify the applicant had to:

1 High Academic Merit

2 Provide a resume of Community Service and volunteer activities and a short essay about the impact of these experiences have had on you. Dayne has 4-H clinics, dairy bowl coaching, and working at the fair snack bar, I learned patience and the importance of supporting younger members as they grow. Volunteering to plant trees, clean community spaces, and serve first responders showed me the value of giving back without expecting anything in return. Each experience has reminded me that small acts of service can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and my community.

3. Provide an essay describing why you chose your career/education path and what community service /volunteer activities you plan to participate in. In summary he wrote:
My educational and career choices are rooted in a desire to make a difference. The lessons I have learned through academics, extracurricular activities, and community service have shaped my values and strengthened my commitment to serving others. By pursuing chemical engineering and continuing to volunteer within my community, I hope to contribute to a more sustainable agricultural industry and a healthier world.

Dayne was a clear Choice for this Scholarship award.
Congratulations.”
