With more residents enjoying e-bikes and golf carts throughout our community, the Westfield Police Department has created a comprehensive guide covering the rules, regulations, and safety requirements for operating these vehicles within the City of Westfield.

Our goal is simple: we want everyone to enjoy the freedom and convenience of e-bikes and golf carts while helping keep our roads, trails, neighborhoods, and parks safe for everyone.

Whether you're a parent, rider, owner, or just considering purchasing an e-bike or golf cart, this guide will help you understand where these vehicles can be operated, registration requirements, safety expectations, and other important information.

With warmer weather finally here, more motorcycles are hitting the roadways throughout Westfield and Hamilton County.

Whether you're behind the handlebars or behind the wheel, we all share the responsibility of keeping our roads safe.

๐…๐จ๐ซ ๐Œ๐จ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐œ๐ฒ๐œ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ:
๐Ÿ๏ธ Wear a DOT-approved helmet and proper protective gear.
๐Ÿ๏ธ Make yourself visible with bright clothing and reflective gear.
๐Ÿ๏ธ Ride defensively and anticipate that other drivers may not see you.
๐Ÿ๏ธ Obey speed limits and avoid riding in drivers' blind spots.
๐Ÿ๏ธ Use turn signals and give yourself extra space to react.

๐…๐จ๐ซ ๐ƒ๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ:
๐Ÿš— Look twice before pulling out, changing lanes, or making turns.
๐Ÿš— Check mirrors and blind spots carefullyโ€”motorcycles are smaller and can be harder to see.
๐Ÿš— Allow extra following distance behind motorcycles.
๐Ÿš— Never try to share a lane with a motorcycle.
๐Ÿš— Stay alert and avoid distractions while driving.

A moment of attention can prevent a lifetime of regret. Let's work together to ensure everyone arrives home safely this riding season.

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿš” Please join us in congratulating Officer Ezekiel McCarthy and K-9 Ozzy on successfully completing their certification training through Ultimate Canine!

Over the past four weeks, Officer McCarthy and Ozzy completed an intensive and demanding training program that challenged them in a wide variety of scenarios and environments. Through hard work, dedication, and countless hours of training, they successfully earned certification in Narcotics Detection, Tracking, and Patrol.

Throughout the course, the team consistently performed at a high level and represented the Westfield Police Department with professionalism and excellence. Their efforts were highlighted by an outstanding performance in Narcotics Detection, where they earned a First Place ribbon during the class competition. ๐Ÿ†

This achievement is a testament to the commitment Officer McCarthy and Ozzy have made to serving our community and enhancing public safety.

Officer McCarthy and K-9 Ozzy will officially begin patrol duties with Nights B on Monday, June 1. We are excited to see them hit the streets and strengthen the capabilities of our K-9 Unit.

Congratulations, Officer McCarthy and Ozzy! We are proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to the great work ahead. ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿš”

Last week marked our final Donuts and Ride to School winners for the school year! ๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿš“

Congratulations to Harper, our certificate winner from Shamrock Springs Elementary, and Thomas! Officer Barth and Officer Alvarez had the opportunity to take them to Titus Bakery for donuts before giving them a ride to school.

Programs like this are about more than donuts and police cars โ€” they are opportunities to build relationships, create positive memories, and connect with the next generation in our community. Spending time with kids like Harper and Thomas reminds us just how important it is to continue working every day to keep Westfield safe.

Thank you to all of the students, schools, families, and officers who made this yearโ€™s Donuts and Ride to School program such a success! ๐Ÿ’™

Three members of the Westfield Police Department team โ€” Shandra, Amber, and Taylor โ€” recently attended the Indiana Child Passenger Safety Conference in Indianapolis.

During the two-day conference, they met with manufacturers, heard from guest speakers, and received important updates regarding child passenger safety, car seat technology, and current recalls. Opportunities like this allow our staff to stay informed on the latest best practices to better serve and educate our community.

We are proud of their commitment to continuing education and look forward to the knowledge and experience they are bringing back to the City of Westfield! ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿš—

Weโ€™d like to take a moment to brag about two of our amazing officers and recognize an incredible accomplishment both on and off duty! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ“

Sergeant Will Ottenweller and Sergeant Lisa Ottenweller both graduated from Butler University this past weekend with their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees, concentrating in Leadership.

Their dedication to continuing their education while balancing the demands of law enforcement, family, and everyday life is truly commendable. At the Westfield Police Department, we are proud of officers who continually strive to improve themselves professionally and personally in order to better serve our community.

Please join us in congratulating Will and Lisa on this outstanding achievement! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘

Today, the Westfield Police Department pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or the unofficial start of summer. It is a day of reflection for the heroes who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to this country will never be forgotten.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to the families of the fallen whose sacrifice is carried long after the battlefield.

As you spend time with family and friends today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

From all of us at the Westfield Police Department, we wish you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

๐Ÿ The only place for Indy 500 speeds is at the track. ๐Ÿ

As race fans from across Indiana celebrate the โ€œGreatest Spectacle in Racing,โ€ the Westfield Police Department is reminding drivers to slow down, buckle up, and drive responsibly on our roadways.

Speeding continues to be one of the leading causes of serious and fatal crashes. Whether youโ€™re heading to a cookout, traveling to the race, or enjoying the holiday weekend, remember: arriving safely is more important than arriving quickly.

โœ”๏ธ Slow down
โœ”๏ธ Eliminate distractions
โœ”๏ธ Wear your seatbelt
โœ”๏ธ Never drive impaired

Letโ€™s work together to make this a safe and enjoyable Indy 500 weekend for everyone. ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
