🚗 Teen Driving Safety 🏮
For many teens, getting behind the wheel means freedom and independence. With that freedom comes a serious responsibility.
As the school year gets underway, the Fire Inspectors Association of Indiana (FIAI) reminds teen drivers and their families to make safety the first priority:
📵 Put the phone down. No text, notification, or social media post is worth a crash.
🚫 Buckle up... every trip, every time. Make sure every passenger is properly restrained.
👀 Stay focused. Avoid distractions like eating, adjusting the radio, or interacting with passengers.
🏎️ Slow down. Speed reduces reaction time and increases the severity of crashes.
🍺 Never drive impaired. Alcohol, ma*****na, and other drugs can seriously affect judgment and reaction time.
🌙 Know your limits. Be extra cautious at night, in bad weather, and on unfamiliar roads.
🫂 Parents and guardians: Talk with your teen about safe driving expectations and lead by example. Safe driving habits start long before the keys are handed over. One decision behind the wheel can change a life. Make the safe choice.
🔥 From all of us at FIAI: Drive smart. Stay alert. Arrive alive.
