Today, Dispatcher Ferrin, Lead Dispatcher Eak, and Deputy Director Hartmann supported the Worcester Dispatch Center as part of the Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT). Our three TERT members, along with other TERT members from across the state, helped fill the shoes(to the best of our ability!) of Worcester Dispatchers who wanted to attend funeral processions for Officer Kurt Solomon. We would like to thank the Worcester Dispatchers who made us feel welcome in the center and our thoughts and prayers go to Officer Solomon’s family and those who worked with him. 💙🖤💛

It was a beautiful day to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony on the site of the future Westfield Police Department Headquarters. The Westfield Police Department outgrew its current building that has been their home since the early 70’s and are eagerly awaiting their new state of the art building that should be ready fall of next year. Good luck with the construction phase! We are looking forward to a formal VIP tour 😉

Due to a powerful storm that came through the north side late this afternoon, many trees and wires are down in the city and a few roads are blocked to traffic. Westfield Gas + Electric/Whip City Fiber has crews out trying to make repairs and restore power. If you come across any downed power lines, please do not attempt to move them. Call 911 and move away from the downed lines. Please have patience and be aware it may take an extended period of time to get trees removed and power restored.

An exceptional job was done by our Dispatchers, who fielded over a hundred 911 calls during the storm. Also, thanks to Westfield Fire Department, Westfield Police Department and our DPW for responding to all the calls .

A cell phone outage appears to affecting multiple Verizon Wireless users across the United States.

The outage was reported to have started around 3 p.m., multiple Verizon users reported issues making phone calls or sending text messages. It is reported to be affecting over 13,000 Verizon customers.

A spokesperson from Verizon said the company was aware of the issue and was working to address it.

This may affect your ability to call 911 to obtain emergency services. If you are a Verizon Wireless customer, please attempt to make 911 calls with landline phones if possible. We will update you on this matter if we get any further info.

👏🏻 Let’s give a big welcome to our newest dispatcher Jaylin Carlin!! She began her training last week while riding along with the Westfield Police Department, Southwick Police Department, Westfield Fire Department, and Southwick Fire Department (and even got a cool shirt along the way). She comes from the eastern part of the state, but is not entirely new to Westfield as she is a graduate from Westfield State University and performed EMT hours with the Westfield Fire Department. Good luck Jaylin during the rest of your training period!! 🍀 🍀 🍀
