This Memorial Day, we stand united to remember and respect the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The freedoms we enjoy today are the direct result of their courage, and their spirit lives on in the values we hold dear. Let us look back with immense gratitude and look forward with a renewed commitment to building a united community.

Please join me at my next Town Talks, a walk through Tamaques Park on Thursday, May 28. We’ll meet at 12:00 PM in the parking lot adjacent to the tennis courts and walk through parts of the park together to discuss any topics of interest, including the Tamaques Park Design Plan.

Community input is a valuable part of this process and will contribute to a thoughtful, multi-phase vision for the park’s future. The elements and features in this plan were requested by the community through stakeholder groups and the 2025 online survey.

The survey for the design plan will remain open until June 15 to capture as much community input as possible. Please visit bit.ly/tamaques to share your thoughts. Note that the images on the site are initial renderings intended to introduce concepts for feedback; at this phase, they are not yet fully scaled or detailed.

Look forward to seeing you in the park on May 28.

The safety and well-being of our community remains my top priority. To that end, I am pleased to join Assemblyman Andrew Macurdy in hosting a Public Safety Forum right here at Town Hall on Tuesday, May 12 from 6:30 pm - 8 pm.

This is an important opportunity to hear directly from law enforcement experts including Chief Battiloro from the Town of Westfield, NJ Police Department and discuss the issues that matter most to our neighborhoods. Whether you have specific concerns about local safety or simply want to learn more about the proactive measures being taken in our district, we encourage you to attend.

Huge congratulations to Westfield’s very own Frank Vuoso for being named Construction Official of the Year by the Municipal Construction Officials of New Jersey.

It was a privilege to watch Frank accept this prestigious statewide honor in Atlantic City last week. Thank you, Frank, for your hard work, dedication and leadership.

Wishing all the moms, grandmothers, and mother-figures a beautiful and happy Mother’s Day. A very special thank you to my wife, Erica—the heart of our home. Watching you as a mother is my greatest inspiration, and I am so grateful to be on this journey by your side.

Earlier this week I had a great afternoon with the Downtown Westfield Corporation during the Main Street America assessment visit.

We talked about the strength and momentum of our community, the DWC’s mission to support local businesses--something I'm very passionate about as a small business owner--and keeping downtown a vibrant place to live, work, and visit. We toured the District to see that energy firsthand.

Thank you to the DWC for all they do year-round to support our community.

As part of our commitment to sustainability and in response to community interest in exploring a reduction in gas-powered equipment, we’re taking a thoughtful look at seasonal limits on gas-powered leaf blowers—balancing environmental impact, noise concerns, and the needs of our community.

During this week’s Town Council meeting, we announced the launch of a pilot program using commercial-grade battery-powered equipment across town and school properties. The goal is to assess whether battery-powered equipment can meet the standards we require for professional landscape maintenance and guide any potential next steps, including legislation to implement seasonal restrictions on gas-powered leaf blowers. This was an issue I committed to exploring during my campaign.

Our goal is simple: make informed, practical decisions that advance sustainability, and works for residents, our maintenance workforce, and local landscaping businesses.

An update on the Tamaques Park Design Plan. Dresdner Robin, the firm leading the Tamaques Park Design Plan, presented their initial design plans during this week’s Town Council meeting.

Drawing on a full park inventory and site analysis, a community-wide survey, and stakeholder meetings, we now have a thoughtful, multi-phase vision for the park’s future, which includes both light touch improvements and more substantial changes. Tamaques Park is our town’s largest green space, recreational area and community hub, and the goal is to ensure these meaningful investments in park improvements and long overdue upgrades serve residents of all ages and interests.

Now starts a three-week public engagement period to gather residents' input on proposed design elements. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of one of our community’s most valued and beloved spaces. I encourage everyone to visit the feedback site (https://bit.ly/tamaques) and share your thoughts by May 26. Your input is critical and will help guide the first phase of improvements, anticipated in 2027.
