While on patrol recently, Ofc. Sears came across two young entrepreneurs on Russell’s Way who were busy running their own business, selling ice-cold water and homemade 3D-printed toys!

Ofc. Sears took the opportunity to stop and chat with the two young business innovators, learning more about their creative ideas and entrepreneurial efforts. It’s always great to see young people taking initiative, trying something new, and finding ways to turn their ideas into a business right here in our community!

Thank you both for giving Ofc. Sears some insight into your business. We’re excited to see where your entrepreneurial spirit takes you and wish you both the best of luck in your future endeavors!

Littleton Road is currently closed between Technology Park Drive and Nixon Road due to a motor vehicle crash in the area of 129 Littleton Road.

🚧 Traffic will be detoured via Technology Park Drive and Nixon Road.

Please avoid the area if possible. If you need to travel through the area, please use caution and follow all posted detour signage.

🚧 TRAFFIC ADVISORY – FORGE VILLAGE ROAD DETOUR 🚧

Motorists are advised that Forge Village Road will be closed between Flagg Road and Patten Road every day from Monday, August 24, through Friday, August 28, from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

The closure is necessary to allow Asplundh Construction, a contractor working on behalf of National Grid, to continue safely installing new utility lines and associated hardware along Forge Village Road.

⚠️ This work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if inclement weather occurs.

🚗 Detour Routes:

➡️ Traffic traveling toward Forge Village: Flagg Road → Robinson Road → Concord Road → Country Road → Patten Road → Forge Village Road

➡️ Traffic traveling toward Westford Center: Patten Road → Country Road → Concord Road → Robinson Road → Flagg Road → Main Street

Please expect delays, allow extra travel time, and consider using alternate routes whenever possible.

👮 Officers from the Westford Police Department will be assigned to the work zone to assist motorists and help ensure the safety of both the traveling public and construction crews. Officers will also assist E.L. Harvey in accessing homes within the detour area so that scheduled trash and recycling collection can continue without interruption.

Earlier today, while patrolling the Stony Brook Conservation property, Ofc. Breault and Ofc. Laverdure came across the Westford Recreation Department summer camp at East Boston Camps!

The officers took some time to visit with the campers, answer their questions about being a police officer, and give them a look inside their cruiser. It was a great surprise for the campers—and an equally great surprise for our officers to come across a group of young people so eager to learn about law enforcement!

🚧 Townwide Paving Program Update 🚧

Newport Construction is scheduled to pave Farmers Way on Saturday, August 22. Local traffic will be maintained, but temporary delays should be expected.

Westford Police officers will be assigned to the work zone to assist with traffic flow and help residents access their homes.

Please use caution, follow traffic-control personnel, and allow extra travel time. Work is weather dependent.

Please follow Westford Public Works for updates on town wide projects!

The highway department services nearly 175 miles of roads, doing resurfacing, road improvements, and snow removal. The department is also responsible for care of the common grounds around municipal buildings except the schools.

Last evening, Ofc. Fitzgerald and Ofc. Mariano represented the Westford Police Department at the Stoneham Police Department’s 4th Annual Safety Night on the Stoneham Town Common!

Our officers joined forces with fellow area law enforcement agencies to showcase their unique police cruisers and equipment during a beautiful summer evening. It was a fantastic family and community event that brought together residents and first responders from across Middlesex County.

A big thank you to Stoneham PD for inviting us to be part of this great event! We hope everyone enjoyed checking out the Westford Police Department’s pink cruiser! 🚓

We know Ofc. Fitzgerald and Ofc. Mariano had a great time—and even got the opportunity to meet a very special guest… Blades, the Boston Bruins mascot!

A huge thank you to Westford Remembers for providing lunch from Evviva Trattoria for the members of the Westford Police Department and Westford Public Safety Telecommunicators earlier today!

After a week filled with some difficult calls for service, it was a delicious lunch and a great opportunity for our staff to take a moment, recharge, and enjoy some time together.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, August 19, 2026

NEWS RELEASE: Motor Vehicle Crash on South Chelmsford Road

Westford, MA — At approximately 1:07 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, the Westford Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of 55 South Chelmsford Road for a motor vehicle crash involving a vehicle that had struck a tree.

While officers were being dispatched to the scene, Westford Public Safety Communications received multiple 911 calls reporting that the vehicle had struck two vehicles at the intersection of Littleton Road and South Chelmsford Road and then continued operating erratically on South Chelmsford Road before leaving the roadway and striking a tree, causing the tree to block the roadway.

Upon arrival, Westford Police and Fire personnel immediately rendered aid to the operator. Due to the extent of the operator's injuries, the Westford Fire Department determined that she required transport by MedFlight to an area hospital. The operator, a 74-year-old female from Chelmsford, was subsequently transported by MedFlight for further treatment.

South Chelmsford Road remained closed to traffic for approximately 90 minutes while officers investigated the crash and Westford Public Works personnel worked to safely remove the tree from the roadway.

The crash remains under investigation by the Westford Police Patrol and Special Services Divisions.

The Westford Police Department would also like to recognize the prompt, professional, and coordinated response of the police officers, firefighters, and Public Safety Communications personnel who responded to this stressful incident. Their quick actions, along with the multiple 911 calls from concerned members of the public, helped ensure that emergency resources were rapidly dispatched and aid was provided to the operator.

No further information is available at this time. Additional information will be released as appropriate while the investigation continues.

🚨 ROAD CLOSURE – CARLISLE ROAD 🚨

Carlisle Road is currently closed between Griffin Road and Acton Road due to a motor vehicle crash involving a utility pole near 173 Carlisle Road. The roadway is impassable.

Westford Public Works is setting up a detour route. Please follow all posted detour signs and avoid the area while National Grid crews make the necessary repairs.

Please use an alternate route and allow additional travel time. 🚧
