Mental health calls are public safety calls, and co-response clinician programs are essential to helping departments safely respond to individuals in crisis.

The Westford community greatly benefits from the Westford Police Departmentโ€™s partnership with COIN Collaborative and the co-response clinicians embedded within the department, along with the follow-up support provided through COINโ€™s community outreach team. These partnerships help connect individuals and families with critical resources, improve crisis intervention, and facilitate safe outcomes for everyone involved.

As communities across Massachusetts continue to see an increase in mental health-related calls, continued funding for co-response programs remains critical to supporting public safety, behavioral health services, and community wellbeing.
