The Town is located to the west of Lowell and north of Concord almost to the New Hampshire border. Westford has a beautiful, state of the art library, a very active community center with offerings for all ages, an active recreation department, an excellent school system, the Nashoba Valley Ski Area, and two town beaches on spring-fed ponds. Every year the Town has an Apple Blossom Festival in May

with a parade and the crowning of an apple blossom queen and a Strawberry Festival in June featuring a wonderful craft fair and strawberry shortcake. The Town of Westford truly has something for everyone. Physically, Westford is a very beautiful town with rolling hills, lakes, and apple orchards. Originally Westford was noted for its farms and woolen mills, but today is mostly a bedroom community with an emphasis on high tech.

๐Ÿšจ TRAFFIC ALERT โ€“ BOSTON ROAD ๐Ÿšจ

Due to a medical emergency involving a member of the construction crew working on Boston Road today, Boston Road will remain closed beyond the standard 3:00 p.m. detour end time.

The roadway will remain detoured along the daily posted Boston Road detour route. This extended closure may impact the evening commute, so please utilize the posted detour route until we are able to advise that the roadway has reopened.

โš ๏ธ IMPORTANT FOR RESIDENTS: Boston Road is currently impassable in the area of 2 Boston Road. Residents looking to access their homes south of 2 Boston Road must enter from the Littleton Road side.

Please plan accordingly and allow additional travel time.

We will update this post when Boston Road has reopened to traffic. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Tuesday, September 1, 2026, marks the first day of school for sixth and ninth graders within the Westford Public Schools system as they will be attending their new schools for orientation. On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the remainder of all grades within the Westford Public Schools system will begin at their respective times. With the beginning of school, there will be a significant increase in vehicular, bus, and pedestrian traffic around the schools throughout town. When travelling throughout town during the morning and afternoon hours, especially around the schools, please use extra caution and be cautious of buses stopping to pick up or drop off students. Please note that the Boston Road detour will not affect bus routes.

As a reminder, the entire length of Patten Road is always a twenty-five mile-per-hour speed limit zone, so when travelling to and from Westford Academy please be cautious of your speed and be aware of the school zone as well. Thank you. We wish all students a happy and safe 2026-2027 school year!

Interested in serving on the Town Manager Search Committee and still havenโ€™t applied? September 1, 2026 at 12 PM is the deadline to submit Volunteer Activity Forms (VAFs) for the Town Manager Search Committee. The VAF form is available here: https://ayrs.io/F9JWJe

The Westford Select Board is seeking seven (7) resident-at-large members to join the Town Manager Search Committee. Committee will also be comprised of two (2) members of the Select Board, one (1) member from the School Committee and one (1) member of the Finance Committee.

This Committee will be charged with reviewing applications for Town Manager and recommending candidates for final consideration by the Select Board. The Committee members are expected to perform their work between September and December 2026.

Littleton Road is currently closed between Technology Park Drive and Nixon Road due to a motor vehicle crash in the area of 129 Littleton Road.

๐Ÿšง Traffic will be detoured via Technology Park Drive and Nixon Road.

Please avoid the area if possible. If you need to travel through the area, please use caution and follow all posted detour signage.
