Today our department dedicated eight full hours to training, growth, and preparedness. Our officers successfully completed CPR recertification through the American Heart Association and participated in Stop the Bleed training—reinforcing critical, life-saving skills that can make all the difference in an emergency.
In addition, our officers are now able to administer oxygen and EpiPens, further enhancing our ability to respond quickly and effectively to medical situations in the community. Having these tools readily available allows officers to provide immediate care during respiratory distress, allergic reactions, or other critical incidents—often before EMS arrives. These first moments are vital, and being prepared can significantly improve outcomes and save lives.
A special thank you to Dr. Jason Winslow, Medical Director from Suffolk County EMS, and Ellen Komosinski, Deputy Chief of Education and Training for Suffolk County Fire Rescue & Emergency Services, for taking the time to come out and serve as our instructors. We also extend our appreciation to Officer Yakaboski for serving as a CPR instructor during today’s training, and to the Westhampton Beach Fire District for allowing us to utilize their facility.
We are proud of the commitment our officers continue to show in keeping our community safe—not just through law enforcement, but through lifesaving care when it matters most.
