On Friday we spent time with the K-2 students at Westhampton Elementary School reviewing some summer safety tips before the end of the school year. It was a very fun afternoon!

We are pleased to share we were recently awarded a FY26 SAFE (Student Awareness of Fire Education) Planning and Senior SAFE grant. Thank you to the Governor and Lieutenant Governor for supporting this funding and the Department of Fire Services for providing this opportunity.

Our hearts, our prayers, and our most solemn condolences this morning are with the family of Boston Fire Department Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr. and his brother and sister firefighters on Boston Fire Rescue Company 2 and across the Department. There are no words to capture the depth of grief or the loss to the fire service and the Commonwealth.

Last week, memorial markers purchased by the Westhampton Firefighters Association through a generous donation from former member Alondra Barnes were placed at Westhampton Center Cemetery in honor of Westhampton’s late volunteer firefighters. The Daily Hampshire Gazette published a really nice article and photos commemorating the event.

It was a pleasure spending some time today at the Hilltown Resource Fair in Chesterfield, held at New Hingham Elementary School.

For Tuesday night’s training we spent time operating the pumps, flowing water, and focused on relay pumping, while working on communication between apparatus. Clear communication between the pump operators and hand lines is imperative for a successful outcome.
