Work is underway at Inkster Park along the Rouge River as part of a $3.5 million federally funded project aimed at reducing neighborhood flooding and restoring natural habitat.

The Alliance of Rouge Communities and Wayne County Parks are hosting a community meeting on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the classroom at the Nankin Mills Interpretive Center, located at 33175 Ann Arbor Trail in Westland to share information on the Merriman Park Habitat Restoration efforts planned for construction this year. The engineer and construction contractor will be in attendance to review the project and to share what to expect during construction.

Today's the day! Nature Fest is here!!! This FREE EVENT at Crosswinds Marsh runs from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. We will have nature display tables, crafts, nature-themed organizations, games, an inflatable bounce house, face painters and caricaturists, fishing, hayrides, and possibly canoeing (weather and wind dependent). We hope to see you later today!

It is not too late to sign up for the Fish Ladder Hike, which will take place today (Friday, May 8, 2026) at the Rouge Gateway Trailhead in Dearborn from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM!

With a beautiful view of both the new Wayne County Fish Ladder as well as the Ford Estate, don’t miss this two-mile hike! Trailhead parking is on Michigan Avenue next to Paris Baguette (Dearborn).
NOTE: THIS PROGRAM MEETS AT THE ROUGE RIVER GATEWAY TRAILHEAD PARKING LOT BEHIND PARIS BAGUETTE!

The fee is $5.00 per person ($6.00 per person if out of county) and is recommended for ages ten and older.

Pre-registration is required by calling (734) 261-1990 or by visiting Nankin Mills Interpretive Center, which is open 9:00 AM-4:00 PM Monday through Saturday (closed Noon-1:00 PM for lunch).
