🐟Aquatic Invasive Species Tour on the Snake River

As part of the NAFWS Pacific Regional Conference, attendees joined an Aquatic Invasive Species Natural Resources Tour hosted by the Nez Perce Tribe.

🐕‍🦺 Participants watched a mussel detection dog from

🚨USDA Confirms First Detection of New World Screwworm in U.S. Wildlife

🪰USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has confirmed the first detection of New World screwworm in U.S. wildlife.

New World screwworm is a parasitic fly whose larvae infest living tissue, posing a serious threat to wildlife, livestock, and other warm-blooded animals.

🦌This detection highlights the importance of wildlife disease surveillance, early detection, and continued coordination among wildlife management professionals.

WOW. The Nez Perce Tribe really knows how to put on a Traditional Feast!

Here at the Pacific Regional Conference, we were treated to meaningful songs by the Dancing Eagle drum group (Andre Picard and sons), and served a nourishing meal of traditional first foods of the Nez Perce: cous, bitterroot, biscuit root, camas, huckleberry, chokecherry, salmon, and elk. 🦌🍒

Qeci’yew’yew (thank you) to the head cook Jasmine High Eagle and her crew. We left the gathering with full bellies and glad hearts. 🙏🏽💚
