Only a Few Weeks Away!!!

The first ever Carroll Book Festival on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The day will build upon Carroll County, Maryland’s reputation as being a community of readers who support authors.

Activities including: children’s character breakfast, ticketed author events, book signings, book-related vendors, author panels, book sales.

Setting: Carroll County Farm Museum, a scenic preserved farmhouse and grounds just a short drive from Baltimore and Washington DC. The rolling hills and park-like venue make for a one-of-a-kind setting for a book festival.

Presented by Carroll County Public Library in partnership with Park Books on Main: Sykesville, Carroll County Department of Economic Development, The Last Word, fka Books With A Past and the Two Sides to the Story podcast.

Evening Walking Tour: Uncovering the Vehicles!

September 16th / 5:30 - 7:00pm.

Explore a fascinating collection of historic vehicles! Join us for an engaging evening to discover how vehicles were used in preautomobile days!

Diverse Collection: See wheeled vehicles, work wagons, pleasure carriages, commercial carts, sleighs, unique wheelbarrows and some “Head Scratcher” vehicles.

Local Roots: Discover vehicles used here in Carroll County – including at least one made locally.

Unsolved Mysteries: Look at rare pieces with unknown origins and help us uncover their stories.

2026 Civil War Living History Reenactment: The Battle of Henry House Hill

August 29 & 30, 2026

Saturday 10 AM – 4 PM and Sunday 10 AM-3 PM

Battle reenactments will be Saturday and Sunday at 1:00P.M.

The Battle of Henry House Hill at 1st Bull Run/Manassas: This scenario depicts one of the climatic engagements of the 1st Battle of Bull Run/Manassas in July 1861 where "Stonewall" Jackson earned his famous nickname by standing like a stone wall.” The battle will feature the color and confusion of early Civil War units as both sides learn how to be soldiers while under fire for the first time.

Throughout the day Reenactors in full uniform will demonstrate infantry drilling, artillery firing and camp life.

Over 200 Reenactors expected to attend! Food Truck on site during the event.
