📣 Tournament Week is Here!

THANK YOU to the volunteers who helped stuff golf bags and helped us prepare for Wednesday's golf tournament. Every bag packed represents support for Westminster Public Schools students and the opportunities that help them thrive.

We're grateful to the team from MeriTrust Credit Union, who rolled up their sleeves and joined us. Community partners like these make events like this possible.

With golf bags packed and final preparations underway, we're looking forward to a fantastic day on the course!

Tonight was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community invests in young people.

At the Adams County Scholarship Award Ceremony, 137 students received scholarships—including 47 students from Westminster Public Schools. We are incredibly proud of every one of them.

We were especially inspired by two remarkable young women who shared their stories.

Stephanie Araiza Acuna, a 2021 Westminster graduate and former Adams County Scholar, graduated from CU Boulder in 2025 and now works at CU Anschutz in Down syndrome stem cell research. Next year, she plans to apply to medical school. Her message about working hard, giving back, and making a difference in your community was deeply moving.

We also heard from 2026 Westminster High School graduate Yasmin Cordova Valencia, who spoke about making the most of every opportunity she is given. Her determination, gratitude, and ambition were inspiring to everyone in the room.

We are so proud of these young women and all of the students recognized tonight.

A heartfelt thank you to the Adams County Commissioners for their continued investment in education and in the future of Adams County students.

Last night, we had the honor of celebrating some truly incredible Westminster Public Schools students at our 2026 Scholarship Awards Ceremony.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, community partners, families, and supporters, 46 students were awarded nearly $487,000 in scholarships — a record year for the Westminster Public Schools Foundation.

These scholarships represent more than financial support. They are a reminder to students that their community believes in them, their potential, and their future.

A special thank you to Adams County, WRSEA, Mike Cull, the Capra family, the Trujillo family, the Osborn family, the Dreiling family, the Ranum Class of ’76, Westminster Public Schools, Coach Joe Pittman, the Fugita family, and all of the individuals and organizations investing in WPS students and their futures.

Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients. We cannot wait to see where your journeys take you next.

A big thank you to Kendra Johnson for her continued support of the Westminster Public Schools Foundation — including through her company, Horace Mann, and sponsorship of our upcoming Golf Tournament! ⛳️💙

It was wonderful seeing Kendra and her husband at last night’s WPS Retirement Celebration. We’re so grateful for the many ways Kendra continues to invest in WPS students, staff, and our community.

This week, we celebrated another graduating class of the Parent Academy for Student Success (PASS), and the stories shared by parents were powerful reminders of what happens when families feel supported, connected, and empowered.

One parent shared:
“Student success doesn’t start in the classroom—it starts in the home.”

PASS helps Westminster Public Schools families build the confidence and skills to support their children from elementary school through college and career planning. The free program is offered in multiple languages and creates meaningful connections between families and schools.

The WPS Foundation is proud to continue supporting PASS and thrilled to announce a new Innovation Grant for the 2026–27 school year.

When parents grow, students succeed — and entire communities are stronger because of it.

Today, we welcomed our former Program Director, Christian Kalenga, back to Westminster High School. Christian now works at the Daniels Fund and returned to speak with students alongside 2025 Westy graduate and Daniels Fund Scholar Jordy Medina Valverde.

Together, they spoke with more than 45 juniors about the Daniels Fund Scholarship, preparing for life after graduation, and the work it takes to become a strong applicant for opportunities like this.

Jordy shared the steps he took to earn this prestigious full-ride scholarship, while Christian talked about the importance of starting early, staying involved, and believing in yourself even when the process feels intimidating.

It was especially meaningful to have Christian back at Westy. Students could see themselves in both his and Jordy’s stories, and that kind of connection matters.

We are grateful they took the time to invest in WPS students and help them start thinking about their futures.
