“Every August 31, International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) brings a global community together to take action on overdose. Hold an event, spread the message, take action today.

This year the theme for IOAD is 25 Years On. Still Needed.

For 25 years, International Overdose Awareness Day has brought people together to remember those we’ve lost and to take action to save lives.

The truth is, we shouldn’t still need this day. But we do.

Overdose continues to affect every community. Yet it can be prevented. We know how to reduce risk and keep people safe. By speaking openly, learning from one another, and treating each other with care and respect, we build a world where fewer lives are lost.

Because while this day is still needed, it doesn’t have to be forever.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – WEST MAIN STREET 🚧 August 20 -August 21

The Westminster Police Department would like to advise residents and motorists that West Main Street, in the area of 50 West Main Street will be closed again tonight to ALL through traffic tonight, August 20 from 9:00 PM until approximately 5:00 AM August 21 due to a water main break.

Local residents will be able to access their residences; however, vehicles will not be able to travel past 50 West Main Street.

Motorists should plan ahead, seek alternate routes, and allow extra travel time. Please use caution and follow all posted detours and directions from crews working in the area.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while repairs are completed.

⚠️ West Main Street Repair Update

Due to an unexpected mechanical issue with a piece of equipment, crews were unable to complete last night’s water service leak repair. The issue has been resolved, and the Westminster Department of Public Works will return tonight, Thursday, August 20, at 9:00 p.m. to complete the work.

West Main Street will be closed between 48 and 49 West Main Street. Traffic restrictions and a temporary disruption to water service are expected.

Here are a few photos from the Forbush Memorial Library’s Touch-A-Truck event this past Saturday!

The Westminster Police Department was happy to participate and spend time with the many families who stopped by to see our police vehicles.

Thank you to the Forbush Memorial Library for organizing and hosting the event, and thank you to everyone who came by to say hello. We enjoyed being part of another great community event.

🚧 Paving Notice: August 18–19

The Westminster Department of Public Works will conduct paving operations on Partridge Hill Road and South Ashburnham Road this week.

Tuesday, August 18: Partridge Hill Road
Paving is scheduled from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Access will primarily be limited to residents, and temporary driveway delays may occur as equipment passes.

Wednesday, August 19: South Ashburnham Road
Paving is scheduled between Roper Road and Woodland Road from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Only northbound traffic will be permitted through the work zone. Southbound traffic will be detoured via Oakmont Avenue, East Gardner Road, and Town Farm Road.

Please expect delays, use caution, and follow all posted signs and directions from police officers and road crews.

A Look Back at Ash-West National Night Out!

We are pleased to share a collection of photos from another successful Ash-West National Night Out. It was a wonderful evening that brought together the Ashburnham and Westminster communities, public-safety partners, local organizations, and families.

Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, volunteered, or helped make the event possible. We are grateful to all the organizations and community partners that contributed their time, resources, and support.

A special thank-you goes to Lieutenant Jason Tamulen of the Westminster Police Department, who worked tirelessly to help organize another successful event for both of our communities.
