We are grateful to Craig, Donnie and Steve, representing Food Lion and their “Food Lion Feeds” initiative (pictured here with Executive Director Caroline Babylon and Food Manager Mark Welch), who pitched in and helped us serve 150 families in one morning shift on Saturday, June 13th. They also presented CCFS with a gift of $500. Thank you, Food Lion!

Bingo night at St. John Roman Catholic Church was a rousing success. We collected over 200 pounds of food from the wonderfully supportive folks who attended in addition to $348 in proceeds from the 50/50 raffle. Our neighbors in need will directly benefit from this generosity. Thank you St. John RCC!

We were recipients of a generous donation from the Roaring Run Lions Club to help mitigate food insecurity in our community. We are grateful to this wonderful organization for their support of so many local humanitarian efforts.

This week we celebrated the birthday of one of our longest tenured volunteers, Kelly Hoover. The effort was spearheaded by Chef Susan Mann (Mann Made) who provided a Smith Island style cake for the festivities. Kelly brightens the day of everyone she encounters at Food Sunday so it was nice to see a little light shined on her. Happy Birthday, Kelly!
