Food Sunday was honored to be the recipient of a $3,400 gift from the Knights of Columbus Council 1393 in Westminster. The check was presented at their crab feast on August 29th at St. John Roman Catholic Church Portico. This donation was the result of proceeds from their annual golf tournament in June. The Knights are “guided by the principles of charity, unity and fraternity” and our neighbors struggling with food insecurity will benefit from their generosity. We are most grateful for their support.

CCFS was pleased to participate this afternoon as families, children, community organizations and local supporters gathered for the 2026 Back to School celebration, co-hosted this year by Find Your Purpose and the Boys and Girls Club.

The community event was well-attended and featured an afternoon of food, music, fellowship, vendors and activities designed to help local young people and families prepare for the new school year.

Carroll County Food Sunday hosted a table filled with donated baked goods and other food items reflecting the generosity of local residents and organizations. It was our privilege to support this opportunity for neighbors to come together and demonstrate their support for Westminster's young people.

It was a wonderful night at our “Community Harvest” event at Carroll Arts Center. A showing of the powerful documentary “Fresh” was followed by a lively Q&A panel discussion. We are grateful to our expert panel members - Kim Anderson, Owner/Proprietor of Bold Love Farm, Dana Mealing, Community Nutrition Coordinator at the Tevis Center for Wellness and Corey Campion, Historian and Professor at Hood College. We’re appreciative as well for a great turnout and engaged participation by our generous community. This is what approximately 350 lbs of donated tomatoes looks like. Thanks to our friends at McDonough School’s Roots Farm, we were able to provide this fresh produce to our neighbors, along with 400 lbs received in previous tomato donations from Roots Farm. Supporting CCFS helps Carroll Farmers Markets and the Local small Family farms you find there.

The CCFS "Veggie Voucher" Program is now in its 17th year. over that time it has not only exposed CCFS Families to all the products of our local, small farm operations, it has injected significant funds into that same Local economy.

Community Harvest, Friday August 14 at the Carroll Arts Center is a film and discussion event to raise awareness and funds for CCFS programs.

A screening of the documentary film, “Fresh”, will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.
“Fresh” 2009- 1h 12m, documents Community gardens, and farmers who are using sustainable and humane methods to grow crops and livestock.
“Fresh celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system… Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet.”
